“Boston Marathon stay at Hotel Commonwealth was excellent”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

My wife and I had a great experience at Hotel Commownwealth. The staff was excellent and over-the-top nice and personal. The rooms were great, large, clean, etc. Rooms service food was perfect. The hotel location was perfect as well - easy walking to Fenway and right on mile 25 of the Bos Marathon. And, both of the restaurants and bars are great. I ran the Boston Marathon and the hotel even left a congratulatory note - my only request is for cooler weather next time!

This was a "shot in the dark" reservation. It turned out better than we could have imagined. Not only did we have a front-row seat of the Marathon event at the 25-mile mark, but the facilities and MOSTLTY the Staff are exceptional! They made our stay memorable! We'll be back!

Room Tip: Ask for room(s) facing Commonwealth Avenue.

One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! All you had to do was ask, and either they had an answer or found out and let you know! I cant wait to visit again! We happened to have a great view of Fenway, steps away from the subway, plus a nice walk (abt 20 min) down to Boston Commons. All of the Staff was friendly & helpful - esp Nick!. Avoid the restaurant on the left side - overpriced and not very good. Head over to the other end of the hotel to Eastern Standard. Great breakfast the first morning, and because we were in the hotel, that night after the game, they put us on a wait list and called our room when a table was available. The food was excellant and only spent about $60 for 2 people compared to $100 for 2 the night before!

Wonderfully located, especially for the Boston Marathon, but also forFenway Park and Boston University. Easy access to the T and comfortable walking distance to Fenway, Newberry Street, Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail. Facilities in excellent condition and spotlessly maintained. Two first rate restaurants and an extremely pleasant and helpful staff from check-in to check-out, who added wonderfully personal touches to the highest quality level of service to make for some great memories for the entire family.

Ever since 'accepted student day' four years ago we have been enjoying this wonderful hotel. The amenities, facilities and location are only bested by the fabulous staff. When you go, be sure to leave some time just to relax in this beautiful hotel.

I found the staff at this hotel to be extremely helpful and polite. The furniture is a little old and outdated, and perhaps could use a refresher. I stayed in the Luxury Suite, a very large area for the price. Huge floor to ceiling windows, a great view, high ceilings, really a special place. I noticed while booking that suite ranges in price from $599 to 719 (I'm guessing it depends on whether the Red Sox are playing.)

The hotel is literally across the street from Fenway Park, so if you're in town for a game, you can't go wrong. However, I was not in town for a game, and I felt the area was not what I would have wanted. It's very big on nightclubs for the young. Being older, and not at all interested in Boston baseball, I prefer other areas of Boston; but that's my preference.

Overall, a really nice hotel, in need of some refurbishing, and if you ever wanted to splurge on a grand suite, the Luxury Suite is the way to go. At $599, it's a steal.
