For an early anniversary trip we got tix to the Red Sox and decided to make a night of it and stay at a hotel nearby. Forgetting it was Boston Marathon weekend our options were limited and we booked on of the last rooms at the Hotel Commonwealth. We were thinking that this hotel was probably a little too much for what we needed but again we were celebrating so we went with it. I have to say I am extremely glad we did! As someone who has worked in the hotel hospitality business I was overwhelmed by the staff's friendliness, efficiency and customer service. From the moment we pulled up outside the hotel we were meet with staff who immediately unloaded our luggage then valet parked our car. We knew our room would not be ready (came in the morning for a day game at Fenway) the guest service agent offered to hold our bags and also congratulated us on our anniversary (the rez agent had noted it on our reservation). Upon returning after an amazing day at the ballpark, we were warmly greeted by the doorman and promptly checked in and our bags were quickly delivered to our room by another charming staff member. Our room was spacious and VERY clean, I give high marks to their housekeeping staff. The pillows werelike clouds, lol! The bed was a little too firm for me but my husband loved it. When walking to and from our room during our stay any staff member we came in contact with was friendly and always looked us in the eye and said hello. I put alot on customer service and even though the cost was a little more than we typically spend, I would stay here again just based on the service alone. We had brunch at the restaurant attached and it was excellent! Had the Cinnamon french toast and my huband had the eggs benedict and we ate it all!
The hotel is next to the Kenmore T station and a 5 min walk to Fenway, bars and other restaurants.
