“long live the Proper Slice”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

There are half a dozen pizza places on Washington St between Brighton Center and Oak Square. I've eaten at 5 of them, and the Proper Slice is easily the best. Their toppings are creative (sopressetta and cherry peppers, bacon and potato), the guys who work there are friendly, and the pizza is always delicious. Don't be put off by the slightly higher-than-usual prices -- with huge portions, you more than get your money's worth. An order of fries ($4) served me and my gf, with more leftover for lunch the next day. The Proper Burger is obscenely big. Also, it's stuffed with cheese and crusted in bacon. This is the best pizzeria I've found in Boston -- I hope it sticks around!

I've ordered the Proper Slice pizza from Grubhub and I got Bacon and Potato Pizza and it was delicious. Definitely perfect!

“best pizza in Oak Square- huge portions”
Reviewed February 1, 2012

This is definitely my favorite pizza place in the area. It's a little pricier than nearby places that cater mostly to College student but it's worth it! They use quality ingredients and the portions are gigantic ( I mean honest-to-God, Huge)

They offer pizza by the slice, and when they say slice, they mean 1/4 of the whole pizza.Still, I much prefer to order a whole pizza even though it costs more because it's fresher and you can really taste the difference when they make it to order. Sometimes the crust on the slices gets a little burned in the re-heating. The tomato sauce actually tastes like tomatoes and they cram on a lot of toppings. The crust is pretty thin but the pizza is never soggy or floppy. It doesn't really hold up to NY standards, but it is hundreds of times better than what you can get in the area.

Also the guys who work there are really nice and laid back and I feel good giving them my business. They're always cheerful and never rush you ordering.

This is mostly a to-go place, but they do have some counter seating and a couple of tables if you just want to get out of the house. They also have a couple large-screen TVS if you're trying to watch a game.
