Five of us hit Sweet Cheeks for a late lunch midweek in July. There was a crowd in the place but we didn't have to wait. We sat at a shared table which adds to the conviviality of the experience. (There are tables that aren't shared, too). We ordered brisket, pulled pork, and chicken to share plus biscuits and some sides. Everything was flavored very well. Sweet Cheeks style of BBQ consists of dry rubs on the meat- BBQ sauce is on the table to be added as wanted.
The food- yum! The brisket was fork tender although our cut had a slab of fat running through it. A better trimming would have been appreciated. Pulled pork and chicken- excellent flavor and texture. We all agreed the pulled pork is best. The Biscuits- dreamy! Grab a warm flaky biscuit, break it in half, lay some pulled pork in it and feast! The sides we had were delicious, too. The beans were creamy, the potato salad was seasoned with just the right amount of mayo, the carrot salad was out of this world- tart and sweet how it should be.
The staff- attentive without hovering. They seemed to enjoy working there and serving good food to customers. Very positive feeling from the whole experience.
Suggestions- order 1 biscuit per person and then order more if needed. Don't let those lovelies sit and get cold. Also, if sharing sides, the small is enough for 3 or 4 people especially if you get multiple sides.
