“Excellent boutique hotel, well located in Boston”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2010

The Nine Zero is a boutique style hotel - dark eating areas, contemporary dressings in the bedroom - I did see some guests use a torch to read the restaurant menu, but this was the general styling of the hotel! Very friendly and helpful staff, and a very good quality hotel, exceptionally comfortable beds. Easy to get to from the subway, and most of Boston was walkable from the hotel. An added bonus, being there over New Year's Eve (First Night) was being able to go to Boston Common to see the fireworks at 7pm, before retiring to the, very busy, bar at the hotel. You don't get the charm of a local hotel in a village at Nine Zero, but equally you don't get the stuffiness of some city hotels. It was quiet, the rooms were an excellent size and they had everything you could need there.

The restaurant was nice, but if you didn't like steak (it was primarily a steak restaurant) then the choice was somewhat limited. We had the continental breakfast which was complimentary with our room stay, which was more than sufficient each morning, and the banana nut muffins were particularly lovely!

My wife and I have been very lucky to travel a lot, across the United States and Europe. When we travel for pleasure we enjoy staying in the finer upscale hotels. I have to say when it comes to the ultimate Hotel experience, this was it for us. The hotel is very very cool, but still has the ambiance of relaxation. The room layout is just perfect, and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever laid upon. The staff where proffessional and friendly, their attitude and appearance helped make our stay at Nine Zero perfect.

I just stayed at the Nine Zero for a conference, and the hotel was in a perfect location, close to the T and right across from the Common. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I was given a free upgrade on arrival to a "view room." I got a great deal through Travel Zoo, and as a Kimpton In Touch member I had free wireless and a credit for the minibar. The room was decorated beautifully, the bed was comfy, and the marble bath was nice. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly.

We stayed 2 nights over MLK weekend with our 11 year old son. The hotel is right on the Freedom Trail and a minute or so walk from the Park Street T station. We found the location super convenient for walking the city, jumping on the T and having our friend drive us to/from Logan Airport. Our room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was up to date and roomy. We had a lovely view of the Boston Commons and Charles River. Like other Kimpton hotels, the staff was friendly and helpful. These hotels are beautiful and chic, plus warm and comfortable. We've enjoyed Kimpton hotels in Chicago, D.C., N.Y., and now Boston. Also, the Concierge was quite helpful and recommended an amazing seafood spot for Sunday night dinner, The Oceanaire.

We stayed for one night weekend before Christmas (weekend of big east coast blizzard). Location is good - across from Commons, on Freedom Trail route and a quick walk to North End, Faneuil Hall & Macy's. Bed was comfortable and room size ample for two. Decor is a bit dark, but that's so subjective, I'm sure some tastes will like it. We were able to get pizza delivered to room late night. One hiccup: housekeeping walked in on us about 10am the morning of check out, even tho we had do not disturb sign up. Staff - front desk, valet, bellman - all helpful and friendly.

We stayed at the Nine Zero while in town for a big concert event. The location of the hotel is perfect. Very close to Boston Common and an easy walk to anywhere downtown. The lobby is very tastefully appointed. The walls behind the elevators are decorated with an interesting material that makes you want to touch it each time. We booked two rooms, one for my wife and I and one for a couple that travelled with us. We put in for upgrades online and at check-in, were not told if any room had been upgraded. Only one of the two rooms was upgraded and this would have been nice to know on check-in so we could discuss who would stay in each room. The room my wife and I walked into had nice furtniture, but was incredibly cramped. There was very little room to even move freely around the room. We were a little disappointed. Despite the room issues, I would likely stay here again due to location.

Recently stayed at the Nine Zero with friends in Jan. 2010. Hotel is beautiful - serene, hip, and elegant and decorated in luxurious shades of purple and gray, and covered in gleaming marble. Excellent service from staff. Location cannot be beat - easy walking distance to both Beacon Hill area or downtown with T access at Park Street across the street. Wine reception from 5-6 was a great treat! I will definitely stay at Nine Zero again and next time will bring my pooch! Oh, and my husband! :-)
I can't think of why you would stay anyplace else in Boston - this is a perfect place where everyone seemed comfortable and happy.
PS I recommend Mooo at XV Beacon Hotel aabout 2 blocks away for a great (indulgent) breakfast/brunch!
