“Great Hotel - perfect location”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

Nine Zero is located in the heart of downtown Boston. The location is central to all attractions making it easy to walk to all. The hotel has a modern cool vibe and the staff were friendly. Hotel restaurant was a bit pricey for breakfast.

Stayed April 2014, traveled as a couple

We stayed in this hotel with our 3 young children - we had large room with 2 beds (very comfortable)and rollaway for the toddler. The hotel was very friendly and we had breakfast included in our rate which was great - criossant, muffin, fresh fruit, juice, coffee. Free wifi also in the room. The also offer wine reception from 5-6 which was great and the kids got to play on the Wee which they loved.

The location was excellent. About 10 minute walk from Quincy market, 2 minute walk from Boston Common, 5 minute walk to Downtown Crossing.

While in Boston we went to the Aquarium - kids loved it . We went to the Childrens Musuem - great for kids up to about age 8/9. Our 3 yr old adored it. We went to see' make way for the ducklings' and fed the ducks and looked for squirrels in Boston Common (they are everywhere).
We took T out to Harvard and went to Curious George shop which kids loved.
We ate in Cheescake factory and had pizza in Northend (which was very busiy). We also did some shopping in Wrentham village - great bargains there.
We really enjoyed our stay in Nine Zero, very central and great customer service. Well worth getting the breakfast package for convience.

I’m thrilled you and your family made the most of our central location, and that you were able to start off your days with a wonderful breakfast. I’m glad your kids enjoyed the Wii distraction, while you were able to sip your wine.

We hope to see you again,

Initially when walking in I was kind of turned off by how central the hotel was - its really right off Boston Common (I had thought it was a bit more remote). The hotel though is very quiet and you would never think you were off a main street.

I tweeted to them about how the robes were kinda wild (animal print) and the room was smaller than I thought. They responded right away and, to my surprise, I came back to the room and had a bottle of wine and 'tamer' robes waiting for me. They really went above and beyond and turned a stay that I may have been disappointed with in to a better one.

If you are looking for a central location with good customer service - this is the spot. If you're looking for a traditional hotel or a room with a bit of space to walk around, you'll want to go elsewhere.

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 city break, beginning at this hotel. We were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary. From check in to check out we were treated wonderfully well. A bottle of champagne greeted us after our long day, which began in Dublin through Heathrow. Our room faced a quiet street although Tremont Street hadn't the noise one would expect from a major city.
The hotel is very convenient to all of Bostons attractions. John Handcock and Paul Revere are buried just across the street, the beginning of the Freedom Trail is just a block away and the hop on hop off is a gentle stroll through Boston Common taking about 10 mins. Around the corner is a great supermarket for all your needs ( including wine and beer at sensible prices!).
Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have a restaurant but offers a great continental breakfast. Ours was in the price. A bonus is that the hotel offers free wine tasting each evening fro 5-6pm. A great way to meet new people.
This is a hotel I can heartily recommend for young and not so young alike. As Arnie says I'll be back!

Hello Adrian M,

Happy 40th Anniversary! I’m glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet of your room, as well as our very social evening wine reception. Our Highball Lounge restaurant you dined in is open for breakfast seven days a week, and four evenings a week for craft cocktails and bar bites.

We look forward to your return,

Thomas

This is a lovely modern hotel located so you can walk to most attractions within 15 minutes (e.g Faneuil Hall, the Freedom trail, the TD Garden)
The room was nicely decorated and of a reasonable size, the bathroom was lovely with a double shower cubicle and fancy toiletries provided. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a wide selection of channels (which was great when we came in tired from a long day of sight seeing!)
The service was great, really friendly and the free coffee in the morning was great as we were heading out quite early each day. The free wine hour between 5-6 each evening was a nice touch aswell.
To get free wi-if in the room you have to join Kimpton hotel loyalty programme before you check in. But this is free and fairly easy to do, when you're there the wi-fi is great so it's worth doing.
The hotel itself is in a nice quiet area, but if you want some atmosphere the attached Highball Lounge is a funky, modern bar which seems popular with professionals for after work drinks.
My only complaint was our particular room which was situated right next to the lifts and they were pretty noisy.
Overall I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for one situated far away from the elevators.

Green Features: They have the usual towel and linen recycling programme. They were also using low energy light bulbs.

This is a modern hotel close to the Freedom Train, the Common, the financial district and just a short walk from Faneuil Hall and the Aquarium. Its also close to the subway so, from the point of view of a tourist, the location would be hard to beat.

We had two skyline rooms on the 17th. Floor. The rooms were nice but something of a let down. The view was good but slightly marred by the next door building's lift box; the fit out was also a bit ordinary - I had expected something with a bit more 'wow'. Having said that, the rooms were very comfortable and so were the beds.

Service was friendly and we really liked the free wine in the afternoon.

Public areas were small and well maintained.

Breakfast and the Highball Lounge was good although a bit expensive. My only real complaint was the internet. This was free in the rooms with membership of Kimpton's loyalty programme but I wanted to print off some tickets and had to use the business centre. Here there was a charge (about $6 for 15 minutes I think) but the connection was dreadful and certainly not worth the cost when I used it.

Hello LondonBurl,

I’m glad you enjoyed our central location, friendly service and evening wine reception. I’m sorry our rooms didn’t pop enough to meet your expectations. My apologies about the slow internet connection, but please note you are able to print complimentary boarding passes from the business center computers.

So many Pros to list: Helpful front desk (Patricia?); excellent location - we walked everywhere and it's located near the Boston Common, historic cemeteries and the Freedom Trail; friendly valets; very quiet room overlooking hipsters at work across the side street; amazing décor in the bar/breakfast area; good morning coffee (free!) in the lobby; nice wine hour (free!); refreshing infused water in the lobby; good breakfast (not included but convenient); comfy beds and nice linens.

The only Con? It's not really a con but they play some really weird elevator music, and not the first thing you want to hear before your morning coffee! It was hilarious and we got a good laugh from it during our stay.

We would definitely recommend this hotel for it's location, quiet room (facing a small side street), comfort and exceptional staff. Bring your disco clothes for dancing in the elevator :)

Room Tip: Our quiet room overlooked Bosworth Street and you could see the Granary Burial Ground from our windo...

I appreciate the shout out for Patricia and was thrilled to share it with her. I’m glad you enjoyed our central location and all the lobby refreshments. I was pleased to note you have an ear for really good disco music; wait, is there such a thing?
