Description: Legal Harborside is Legal Sea Foods’ 20,000 square foot flagship property on the Boston Waterfront, comprising three floors and three different concepts under one (retractable) roof. You’ll find a nod to our heritage on the first floor hull, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist, an oyster bar and a market. The second floor dining room offers cuisine prepared with sensible creativity for celebratory eating and private dining events. And those that visit the third floor promenade deck will enjoy a four-season rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof and walls for cocktails and bites. All aboard! Located in the Seaport District, Legal Harborside is within easy walking distance to the Institute of Contemporary Art, the World Trade Center, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion and hotels including the Renaissance Boston, Westin Waterfront and Seaport. Legal Test Kitchen (LTK) is directly across the street.

Make sure you get on the 2nd floor, the food is definitely not off the regular legal seafood menu, when they say gourmet, it is gourmet. I've had the abalone (FANTASTIC) as well as the chicken and other seafood dishes. Overall, I prefer this over Del Frisco's next door and the Legal Seafood Test Kitchen (across the way).

Recommended by the concierge of the Liberty Hotel, this branch of Legal Seafood opened relatively recently. As the name implies, it sits next to the harbour, with views across to the airport in the far distance.

There are three floors, each with a different flavour: casual dining on the ground floor, smarter dining on the next, and a sushi and sashimi restaurant at the top.

We sat in the bustling ground floor restaurant, with the windows on one side and the open kitchen on the other.

Our wood-fired scallops and shrimp, and our clam chowder, were all excellent - as was the service. And they even let one of our party order from the top floor sushi / sashimi menu.

Not somewhere to go for a quiet night, but fantastic for a lively evening with friends.

Recently visited Boston. Friends suggested Legal Sea Food for seafood. We visited two days in a row. Day one was perfect. The rolls, clam chowder and lobster roll were all very good. Liked it so much we decided to have lunch there the second day. The clam chowder was runny and not too many clams. My son and I had fish and chips. The quality of the fish was not good. It was too bad considering the previos day everything was wonderful. The salads and wine list are very good.

I've waited months to comment, since I don't give 5 stars lightly. We have just had our third wonderful experience at Legal Harborside's second floor. Legal's restaurants deservedly earn their reputation for great seafood, but the Harborside takes it up a notch. Terrific cuisine in a beautiful setting, with menu offerings not seen in their other locations. I was delighted with the sauteed abalone in a maple flavored sauce, which followed an appetizer of seared tuna, wasabi and ginger. Ocean fare is their specialty, but our guest commented that his filet mignon was the best he'd had in some time. Admirable wine list and great cocktails. Our waiter became a bit scarce at mid-meal, but a minor detraction from a great evening.
I'll valet park the car next time, since the condo garage across the street has annoyingly small spaces and Legal's validation is only good for 2 hours (whose idea was that !) But hat's off to the Harborside second floor!

We enjoyed eating at this new Legal location. The food was very good.. The rolls they serve are warm and "deeeelicious". I had the fish & chips...fish was very fresh and tender. My husband had the fried clams and also clam chowder for an appetizer which I tried and both were excellent. We went upstairs to the bar while waiting for our table and the bar area is beautiful with great views of the harbor. Bartender was very friendly and seemed to enjoy waiting on his customers. Our server was very nice and friendly also.
The only thing missing was lobster bisque which I've had before at other Legal Seafood locations.
We would come here again.
