I've never been to Scotland, but I can't imagine enjoying it more than The Haven. Of the several selling points, atmosphere is likely the strongest. I find that I smile readily and for some strange reason want to discuss things, even mundane and boring things - and I want to discuss them a little louder and more passionately than normal. I don't know if it was well thought out or just worked out; but everything from the lighting to the decor to the layout synergizes to give a refreshingly cozy feel. The people are great, patient, knowledgeable, are friendly. The pickled specimens along with this dense, grainy, soft flat bread-type appetizer that are reflexively placed on each table are unique, delicious, and truly invite one to be a bit more open-minded about their eating and drinking experience. There are classic Scottish dishes and also the best burger I've tasted in Boston. The beer selection is diverse enough to please a variety of palettes. The Haven became our go-to venue to take out-of-town visitors since we moved to JP. We have repeated this recipe for a fun and lively evening several times; our guests are consistently impressed.

Good beer and ale selection, fantastic sandwiches. BLT has actual bacon, not like crappy American streaky ‘bacon’. Burger is huge and delicious, great choice with the brioche bun; supposedly the best burger in Boston, the owner assures us ☺. The homemade tomato sauce as an accompaniment is lovely; Parsnip and cumin skink was delicious. The décor makes for a great cozy atmosphere, and the owner is friendly and greets you like a regular. Apparently they show episodes of the Mighty Boosh here on Sunday evenings. If you don’t know what this is get yourselves down there!

We had such a great time recently at the Haven, the food was delicious and all made right there, great Scottish cuisine, the beverages were yummy and the atmosphere warm and inviting. The owner, Jason and staff could not have been nicer, it was like having supper in their home. I will definitely return there. Be adventurous and try the Haggis when they offer it!

Had a great night out here to celebrate our anniversary! There was a bagpiper playing while we were there. We had a special table by the window and enjoyed the authentic dishes. Almost more like being in Scotland than when we were there last year. Definitely recommend the scotch egg and fried mars bar. Thank you to the amazing staff for making the celebration so memorable for us!

As "preparation" for an upcoming trip to Scotland, we decided to give Boston's only Scottish pub a try. The beer was great, the entrees delicious and the service attentive and helpful. I had smoked fish cakes topped with poached eggs and cherry pepper hollandaise. It was accompanied by lightly dressed arugula. My friend got the full Scottish breakfast - huge portion. All the sausages are made in-house. She cleaned the plate, it was so good. The table was set with scrumptious oat cakes and butter. It is a place to kick back, enjoy with friends and dine well for a reasonable price. I'll be back!
