We avoided the crowd by visiting Faneuil Hall about 2-hours before closing on a weekday; absolutely no lines. The tour guide was very informative with the Q&A but basic in the pre-scripted tour itself; so you get more for your money by asking questions and getting answers. Interesting items inside and explanations were written out well. The building itself is in the heart of a commercial area, so this place is commercialized. I recommend reading the online Historical Park Service info before going to the Hall. Alone, the Hall isn't much, and only contains a small piece of American history. But when you see this site as a part of the freedom trail and see where it fits into American history, it becomes more interesting as you connect the dots.
