Owner description: No Tax on Tea! This was the decision on December 16, 1773, when 5,000 angry colonists gathered at Old South Meeting House to protest a tax...and started a revolution with the Boston Tea Party! Built in 1729, Old South Meeting House was the largest building in colonial Boston. From outraged protests over the Boston Massacre, to the night when Samuel Adams gave the secre3t signal to throw 340 crates of tea into Boston Harbor, colonists came to the Meeting House to protest British rule.

“History on Freedom Trail”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

This was one of our stops on the Freedom Trail. A lot of history took place in this building and it is neat to see. Provides exhibits that show the movement of the revolution and the events that took place. Interesting stop on the Freedom Trail.

“4th of July in Boston”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Great history--learned who put the lights in the church steeple, and it wasn't Paul Revere! Not A/C and it was 90+ that day, but ceiling fans helped.

It is amazing all that happened in these old buildings. I thank God that they are preserved to tell the story

“Not that interesting”

While there is historical significance to this building, the exhibits and building really isn't that interesting.

“Goosebumps.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

Learning more about the history of Boston and the nation is guaranteed at The Meeting House. What happened, who was there, why they spoke out, and what was said all lends to a great afternoon of getting more in touch with history. Bringing the early days of the birth of our great nation to life is what is in store here. A must do!
