Description: Welcome to Davide, Boston's premier authentic Italian restaurant. Located in the Historic North End, Davide has continued to serve outstanding regional Italian cuisine for more than two decades. Davide is proud to have been an integral part of the North End’s incredible dining scene for over 20 years. Our doors first opened in 1982 and ever since then we have provided Boston with the highest quality culinary creations. Our talented chefs pool their collective years of experience to create dishes that reflect the rich traditions of Northern Italy and at the same time amaze diners with their originality. Their work has earned Davide numerous accolades — "Best Italian" - Pat Whitley Show and Phantom Gourmet - "Greatness" — over the years, including a Five-Diamond award from AAA, a rating of Excellent from Zagat Survey, and recognition as one of the nation’s top 50 Italian restaurants.

Our dining experience was affected by the fact that the server did not explain the menu adequately and we, unexpectedly, ordered food that was too spicy, too similar and too heavy. The Tuscan bean soup was tomato based and very spicy. We could not eat it. The pasta dishes were heavy with butter and oil and, simply, not healthy. We were not about to try the desserts and the server didn't even ask us if we wanted anything else. The owner met with us and told us that diners had really liked the soup and really like the pasta prepared in this manner. That may be true, but we weren't given the information we needed to make the right choice...if there was one.

Whenever we visit Boston, we try a few new restaurants, but always return to Davide, and still find it the best for Italian. If you're looking for pretentiousness, you won't find it here. It's just a very comfortable restaurant with fabulous food and wine. If you want to modify a menu item, no problem. Definitely worth the short taxi ride!

We met some friends from out of town for an early dinner for the holidays. The restaurant started the meal with a taste of soup from the chef. The server did not know what it was. We ordered wine by the glass with dinner and when we reordered more of the same they poured a totally different wine into the glass. Considering the restaurant was practically empty, it isn't as though there were so many different patrons ordering wine that the server could have been confused.
The meal was mediocre and the price per entree averaged $25-30. The high light of the meal was the Caesar Salad.
We used to come here years ago. We even had dinner here on our wedding night more than 20 years ago but I definitely cannot recommend it now.

Anthony, the owner, asked what I wanted to drink, I said Shiraz, he said o it was too sweet, order something else. Brought 10 slices of bread for 17people , when asked for more bread were ,told we didn't need it. Three meals had downright bad meat. (Veal). These meals were not eaten. One meal was sent back because it was floating in oil. Anthony told the diner that it was expensive truffle oil, and did not take it off the bill. Sent out three salads that were not ordered, and charged for them anyway. This is one of the worst restaurants we have ever eaten at.. Should have known it would be poor, the place was empty all evening.

My husband and I tried it out only because we found a good deal with Groupon, and we loved dining at the NorthEnd, but we were pleasantly surprised. Though it wasn't located at the busy Hanover Street (where most of the restaurants are) it is close to where the parking is. For a Friday night, the place is quiet and almost empty. A few tables were occupied by people who seem like loyal patrons. The place is perfect for a date night. It is cozy and romantic and away from all the noise of main stream NorthEnd. The prices of the food are not much different from any other restaurant in the area, $28-$35 for the main courses but reasonable enough for the pasta dishes, which would be the better reason to try it out. I had the Papperdelle with short ribs and it was very tasty. The Caesar Salad was made from scratch table-side and the aroma of sauces will make your mouth water. The staff were very nice and attentive. If anyone said the service was slow, well the person probably has not had dinner served a true Italian way. All in all, if you want Italian, it's definitely worth a try!
