“Alright Dinner and Seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

came here for a surprise engagement dinner party with party of 14.

we had a fixed dinner menu:
appetizers for the table (clam chowder, oyster sliders, fried crab cake)
choice of salmon/lobster roll for entree
choice of chocolate cake/apple fritters

the clam chowder and oyster sliders were good. the fried crab cake was just ok and dry. it couldve used some sauce.

the salmon and the lobster roll were delicious! the lobster roll was served chilled and had lots of lobster meat. the salmon was tender and moist and cooked perfectly. it was very fresh.

the chocolate cake was alright. it was served with some weird ice cream and a melted marshmellow was good.

i enjoyed the apple fritters with caramel alot more. the fritters were cooked perfectly and dipping them in caramel was heaven!

overall, this restaurant has good food with some hits and misses. the decor inside is nice, and the service is pretty decent. i know our waiter had his hands full with 14 people, pouring champaigne, wine, and taking a group photo of us on all of cameras, but he did an excellent job tending to us.

unfortunately, since it was a set dinner, i did not get to try their oyster bar, which i wouldve loved to sample . this place is really close to the kenmore area. the food is alright here, but i would come back a 2nd time to see how it truly measures up for boston seafood.

Great food and service, and let's not forget awesome cocktails at the bar. Just know that you should expext bustling and loud, and some tables are quite close.

“It's all about the oysters and more!”

We went to Island Creek while spending a couple of days in Boston and were very pleased with all aspects of the restaurant. Very friendly and energetic greeting to a restaurant with a lot of positive energy. The service was unpretentious, very well informed and professional. I had been a chef on Cape Cod quite awhile ago and loved Wellfleet oysters. I was ready to order a dozen. The waiter suggested three each of we try three each of the Island Creek, Duxbury and Plymouth oysters. We went with it and were very happy with the selection. All different, very fresh and beautifully shucked! For entrees we went with the fish and chips and lobster roll. Both very fresh and very well prepared. Before we got our entrees we were sent two complimentary oyster sliders which were excellent as well. Wine and beer lists were well chosen and offered very good choices at a broad range of price points. Too full for dessert, but saw some which looked delicious. Will definitely be back!

All delicious - oyster slider, arugula salad, chowder, fish and chips, lobster roe noodles, scallops. Seafood very fresh in Mrs Bennett's casserole but could have been a little more flavorful. Service was excellent.

“As good as they say. Maybe even better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

The service here was phenomenal and certainly added to our great experience. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable, patient, and made some excellent recommendations. My friend started with the striped bass ceviche, which was so fresh and tasty. We also got the clam chowder, which was, hands down, the best clam chowder I have ever had. I chose it over the lobster bisque at the recommendation of our server and I was so glad I did! I had the striped bass entree, which was very good, but I did prefer my friend's monkfish entree. The drinks were also fun and unique! We had a leisurely, fun dinner and were very glad we made reservations! We also really liked the atmosphere.
