I have been requesting a refund for two months for a trip to Holland and Belgium in April 2020 that Grand Circle canceled. I was told that I would receive the refund, and when I called today, Vicky, the representative indicated that the company rescinded refunds for the trips THEY canceled.
They have been holding nearly $6000 for a year and refuse to do anything but apply it to another trip in the future.

Booked a tour to Vietnam. Cancelled a while ago, they held back $300 per person. They then cancelled the tour but have so far refused to return the money. Talked with them today and they said possibly can use towards new booking. No way. BEWARE, when paying anything to them as there is a lot of chatter they will file for bankruptcy. As you can see in reviews they put in writing people will get full refunds, then changed their minds and refused.
In March, prior to March 23rd, I asked for a refund ($9799) for the canceled Japan trip. I was told this would be OK. I verified the refund was in process multiple times (5), though the processing time it would take started out at 7-10 days, then 2-3 weeks, then 1-2 months, then 2-3 months, then "several more weeks" due to how busy they were. On 4-27 I was finally able to talk with a Supervisor who related to me that on March 23rd a policy change was made which stopped all reimbursements (no notification to OAT clients of any type to communicate this). This was regardless of the fact multiple OAT representatives have been assuring me up until 4-20-20 (at which time I asked to talk to a Supervisor), the refund was expedited and in process, and would be coming soon. I now had a choice of if rescheduling another trip next year, or making a new reservation (which we already had for July of next year to Norway), and applying the $9799 toward that trip. I need the money NOW, not applying it to another questionable trip in July next year.
Extremely poor effort by OAT. Having made 11 trips with them, I will never willingly travel with them again (I may have to in order to "save" the $9799 +), and recommend, as I will be doing to the rest of my fellow travelers, you don't either.

OAT cancelled our trip to Australia now refuses to refund the amount we paid. This is despite a phone conversation where refund was promised an email.
Don't trust these people.
I would not recommend booking travel now as their policy on refunds has changed. The change benefits OAT.
OAT cancelled my trip with my daughter (spend was over 7K) due to pandemic (totally understandable) and offered me a full 100% refund (really great!). We spoke on the phone and they followed up with a written confirmation via email. BUT then, they withdrew their offer, said the trip was not "cancelled" but "postponed" and my money was now put toward a trip next year. UNACCEPTABLE (and possibly illegal?) to do a bait and switch after confirming in writing a refund offer. I lam a single mother of 4. this was a grad gift and I now cannot afford to forgo the refund that was contracted and confirmed. In addition, the extra hotels and the airfare that I purchased on my own (not thru OAT) was fully refunded by those vendors. I cannot imagine that OAT did not receive any refund from the trip that was cancelled from their own vendors given their years in the industry. For them to not pass along the refunds to their customers is extremely disconcerting to say the least. For OAT to renege on their CONTRACT agreement of a refund to me is unethical. NEVER AGAIN OAT. (the photos are the confirmation email and my actual online account updated to note that a refund was due and the trip was in fact cancelled).
