My wife an I ate at this restaurant while visiting Boston. We always read the reviews before making a reservation anywhere. We had to wait a bit even though we had a reservation- we were told that they forgot that we were standing outside- oh well- the waiter was knowledgeable and the food was good as well. Highly recommend the pea soup if you like peas. Don't expect to get a lot of food at a place like this- maybe enough for your lady, but you may have to ask for an extra basket of bread- I'm just saying!!!

Where to start? This was our second visit. We go to the Boston Lyric Opera and used to go to Avila but they are not open on Sundays now. We tried Market and, the first time, liked the fact that there was a slightly more quiet back room, but not yesterday. It was closed off. So our experience was noisier than one wants IF you want to have a conversation where you're not yelling at one another across the table. It's Restaurant Week so we tried that menu. The food was fine but overpriced for what we got, BUT one of the four of us wanted her salmon cooked all the way through, medium to well. A bad idea from my point of view, but that was the way she wanted it. When the meals came, her salmon was cooked identically to the two others of us who ordered (rare). "Please just stick this under the broiler for another minute" she asked. Twenty minutes later it came back. At this point, the two couples had had their "dining experience" ruined. The pace of the meal was undermined. Three of us watched one of us eat her entree and a very long time for our deserts. But that's not all.

When the check came, not only had they not comped us for one meal, they charged us for an EXTRA meal.

Mediocre food, poor service, dishonest billing, inadequate compensation for the errors of preparation and management and finally, as a mostly retired businessman myself, it was just plain insultingly bad business. In the neighborhood, if it is open, Avila has very fine food and an atmosphere more conducive to conversation. Legal Seafood has a little more noise but one is never disappointed with service and attentiveness and the food is very good (not fabulous)

I had the honor of having lunch with a group of 15 people as part of a new and exciting venture in the greater boston area. Reputation preceded our experience and BOOM~ it lived up to it plus some.
Service was impeccable, specialty cocktail delicious. And then there was soup. Perfect with the beautiful bread. Shall I have the steamed shrimp salad or the pasta bolognese? Salad please and if I could have it again tomorrow, I would !

A birthday celebration at Market turned into the perfect place. Our party of 3 all agreed that everything about Market was superb. Decor, food, and service, were impeccable. Definitely will return. Birthday surpise at the end of our meals added to the festivities. Welll Done Market!
