“A Must Do For Visitors and Bostonians Alike”

Michael, while not an actor like the other guides, is a History professor and a cheeky one at that. He walked us to all the stops on the Freedom trail, dispelled myths about what happened and thoroughly enjoyed himself. A truly likeable guy who truly wanted his crowd to enjoy all the trail has to offer! Did I mention the guides are in time period costume?! Huge bonus points.

“Lessons on Liberty gives great tours!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

My husband and I took a 90-minute walking tour with Lessons on Liberty two weekends ago. We enjoyed it immensely! Our guide, Michael, has a passion for history that really shines through his tours. He is a history professor at a local university and is dedicated to accuracy. While this was a very thoughtful and educational tour of key historical sites, our guide was skilled at ensuring it was also entertaining. We were very impressed with Michael. The tour ends at some of the coolest pubs in the city. I'd recommend the 10am tour and lunch (seafood and beer!) at one of these pubs afterwards.

“Learnt a lot and was entertained”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2014

Being Australian I wasn't sure if we would really be captured by the history but with Michael our guide explaining the history it's truth and myths we really learnt a lot and enjoyed it immensely. Michael being a historian could tell us all the facts but he used his sense of humour to good effect to keep us listening. The walk is a easy one and though busy at different spots our small group could hear everything and had our questions answered. We highly recommend this tour.

“Great tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

We had an awesome tour guide named Michael Szkolka who was incredibly knowledgable regarding the revolutionary war and important figures that make up Boston's rich history. Michael is an esteemed historian and that really shines through while he conducts his tours. Many of the other guides are actors and may come off a bit hokey. If you are a true lover of history I would definitely recommend taking his tour plus he's really funny too!
