“Excellent tour”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Michael was excellent, very knowledgeable, and entertaining. The walking tour lasts about 1.5 hours with an extra last half hour at a pub for those interested. The tour started with a brief walk in the Common to the base of the MA State House. Next, we walked to the Granary Burying Ground and visited a few key spots. The Old South Meeting House, Faneuil Hall, and the Old State House were other key stops.

In addition to this tour, note that park rangers give free guided tours during peak seasons from Faneuil Hall.

“Enlightned History”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

Informatve, humorous, insightful. This was tour that brought history out from the elementary school mythology and into the light of understanding. A history tour guided by an historian is not something that should be missed.

“Facts not Fiction, Teachers not Actors”
Reviewed May 24, 2014

Based on the TripAdvisor reviews, we booked our Freedom Trail tour with Lessons on Liberty. My daughter & I were visiting Boston for our first time and we both share the love of history. Michael was our tour guide. We had about eight people in our group.

Michael did a phenomenal job explaining facts along the Freedom trail and dismissing fictional rumors we may have heard in our lifetime. He is actual a history professor which we really appreciated. Many of the other tours are lead by actors who may or may not give accurate information.

He will answer any questions you may have. He is very funny and witty as well. Well worth the cost!

“So helpful and interesting.”

We toured with Michael today and enjoyed his commentary and expertise. He was also very witty and patient with our children. He gladly answered all of our questions as we'll. I wish it had been a bit longer.

“Great, Informative, Unique”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

I've lived in Boston for 18 years, done countless duck tours, trolley tours, and walked the freedom trail until my feet blistered. I learned more in 90 minutes with Bob than I did in the previous 18 years combined.

Bob knows his stuff, and will give you background and blow-by-blow accounts of significant events in Boston's history -- accounts that you won't read about in the standard history books, and won't hear about from the "actors" that operate most other tour companies.

He did a customized tour for us -- for 10 coworkers from all over the country and 2 from Germany. Moved along well, and the best part is that we finished up at the Green Dragon for a few pints, where the stories kept coming.

I'd highly recommend.
