“Modern hotel in a great convenient location.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

Centrally-located hotel, walking distance to lots of sights, restaurants, etc. The room decor was modern and quite minimalist. Very good bed and pillows which made for a good nights sleep. Very very good shower - high water pressure and good temperature. Don't share a room unless you're a couple, as the shower room is designed in quite an open way. Breakfast spread was rather standard. After a 3-night stay, breakfast became repetitive but it wasn't a big issue for me. We had a car with us, which needed to be valet-parked at quite a high daily rate, but I guess it comes with a big city.

The Ames turned out to be a great central location to tour the Boston area. Most things were within walking distance. The Old State House was righ outside of our window. The hotel is quite modern and very clean. You will get some street noise, at least where we were on the 3rd floor facing Court St., and you can hear the T come and go from the underground station across the street. Still, this was not really bothersome. The one bedroom suite was huge. We would definitely stay here again.

The Ames was in a perfect location, very close to the T so it was easy to get around. We are in our mid to late 40's and loved the clean and modern decor. It was not too stark or cold. The staff was courteous and helpful. We only stayed for two nights but will definitely return to the Ames and will consider other Morgan hotels in other cities.

So I gave this an average rating versus poor because I really just don't think this hotel was meant for me. I saw Malcolm Gladwell there, so apparently hyper-intelligent thinkers like it, but I found it to be a weird experience.

First off, it is in a great location. Right in a bustling area of Boston, walking distance to everything.

The room is really small, which I suppose is normal for this area of Boston? Although I've stayed in the Hyatt in Boston and it wasn't like this. Anyway...super small room. It had a king bed and a desk and then essentially no room to walk. Maybe one person's worth of space walking room around the bed.

The weirdest part was the bathroom. Completely transparent. Glass walled bathroom. So you can see everything, toilet, shower. There was a curtain you could pull but you could still see the outline of a person using the bathroom. It was ultra-weird.

The hotel was supposed to be modern I think but it was really just creeping me out. It was all very grey in the hallways.

Again, I would never stay here again, but I don't want to give the hotel a bad name because of that. If you're into boutique chic and are staying alone, and not in the room much, it might be okay. Also modern design - again people seem to rave about the place, it just creeped me out personally.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Ames Hotel for our honeymoon. We stayed from 10/1 through 10/7. I cannot say enough about how amazing this hotel was and is.

Not only was it beautiful and modern and well decorated, the staff was incredible. From the moment we checked in, they were welcoming and accommodating. From a bottle of champagne and congratulations from the front desk in our room to the always helpful restaurant and site suggestions from the doormen. We felt like we could ask anyone for anything and made friends with so many members of the staff that we can't wait to go back!

Every interaction with a hotel staff member was positive and the personal level of service from each was amazing. From remembering our names, to congratulating us on our recent wedding at every turn, the bartenders in the restaurant, the concierge and those already listed, we were so happy. This hotel made our trip perfect and we loved staying here.

Even more specifically, fantastic customer service from Derek, Charles, Frances, Eduardo and Jesse and Michael in the restaurant plus too many others to mention.

The location is also exactly where we wanted to be, walking distance to Faneuil Hall and the North End, near great pubs and the T is across the street. The rooms were comfortable and the showers are awesome. We thought it was absolutely worth the money if for the level of service along.

Room Tip: We were given a corner room on the 5th floor which had amazing windows and natural light.

We stayed for a weekend as a couple and had a great time. The design of the rooms is really interesting and comfortable. The room was really quiet even when the lobby was boisterous. The hotel had a fun feel. Downside is the water on the floor from the shower, but the shower is so spacious and the Malin+Goetz bath products totally make up for inconvenience. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating.

The location was perfect for us to do a lot of sight seeing in a short period of time. Loved the decor a mixture of old building and modern interior. The contintental breakfast was of good quality. I found the staff helpful. A standard room was a good size. Only reason I have not given it full marks was due to cost.
