Tavolo is located just outside the Ashmont T stop (last stop on the Red Line). It is owned by the same group that owns another great (a little more pricey) restaurant just up the street called the Ashmont Grill.

Tavolo has great appetizers--try the meatballs, and a nice selection of interesting pasta dishes and pizzas. And the friendly bar is a great place to have a beer and watch a Bruins, Red Sox, Celts or Patriots game.

We ate here twice in our 6 night stay which suggests it was quite good.
The food was very well presented and tasty. Staff very attentive.
Very convenient when we got off the T and wanted somewhere to eat as it is 2 minutes from the station.

If you wanna experience a nice and real italian way of cooking in Boston, please went there, nice place, friendly staff, nice wines and wonderful dishes with real italian style.
Went there for a wine tasting, was impressed from the burrata and the handmade pasta.
the meat was so fabolous too, and the dessert a mouthwatering almond cake with icecream

I live nearby, and it took me a while to get here because I thought that it was somewhat expensive. It turns out that only the big meat entrees are expensive ($20-25). But the pizzas and pasta are very well priced for Boston and beautifully made ($10-$13). Good winde list by the glass, including reasonable house wines that are tasty.

The bartender was great, friendly and attentive, ditto for our waitress. It's a really nice looking dining room: tasteful, spotlessly clean, and with lots of natural light. I used to drive all the way to the Dogwood in Jamaica Plain for a relaxed, inexpensive night out over good pizza, but this will be my new go to place when I don't want to cook.
