“Best lobster roll in Boston!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

Our tour guide, hotel bellman and a crew member on our harbor tour all said the same thing: if you want a lobster roll in Boston, James Hook is THE place to go. They were right...

Not much to look at, you might be tempted to choose another location. Don't be fooled. This is the real deal, served up fast and with no frills. Tasty lobster, mayo and a bun. Simple and delicious.

“If It's Lobster Rolls You Want, This Is Where You Want To Be”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

We pride ourselves in knowing the "best deals" in town ... and believe me, this is definitely one of the best deals in town! The lobster rolls are chocked full of lobster. If "ambience" is important to you, then you might want to skip James Hook. There are no fancy waiters or anything like that ... You order at the counter and then sit down on picnic benches (indoor or outdoor seating, depending on the weather and your preference). We loved our lobster rolls (make that lobsta rolls) and would definitely consider coming back again. It's quality that counts ... and there is plenty of that at James Hook!

“OMG ...No frills seafood...perfected!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

We had the best lobster rolls ever (they come in 2 sizes...we ordered & recommend the large).... their clam chowda is to die for (corn chowda too)...and their crabcakes...Yum. This is not "fine dining"...you sit outside or inside at picnic-table-style accommodations and eat from paper plates with plastic utensils...but trust me, this place isn't currently (November 2013) ranked #11 out of 2736 restaurants in Boston on tripadvisor for nothing...and its really more of a fish market than a restaurant. I did see someone in an earlier review say that their server was rude...He didn't have the waiter we did. Our server couldn't have been more friendly and he doted on us the entire time we were there. I was more than happy to tip him $20 for his unpretentious service on a $50 meal - almost double what I usually would. We ate in some nice Boston-eateries on our long-weekend stay at the Intercontinental (practically next door) and we did not getter better food or service than at James Hook & Co.

“Very good stop for lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We stumbled upon this small place, very small place. Difficult to find a spot to eat but the food made up for it. We had the clam chowder, lobster bisque, crab roll and lobster roll. Everything was very good especially the lobster roll! Excellent!
