“Would enjoy it more without the climb”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

The site is a must if your visiting historic sites in Boston. The neighborhood was quiet and one of the most picturesque in Boston. The visitor center across the street was convenient for information and restroom facilities. I didn't realize until later how old the actual monument was, predating the Washington Monument in D.C. . I enjoyed the site but not so much the climb. I know this is subjective, but didn't think the views warranted the difficult climb in a very hot and tight staircase.

“A fine tribute ”
Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

I thought the grounds and monument itself were beautiful. Yes there were a lot of steps but it's not like you weren't told time and time again that there were a lot of steps. Small up top but everyone was courteous and had great views!

“Bunker Hill great city views”
Reviewed July 15, 2014 via mobile

Bunker Hill on the freedom trail was a fun visit. Great little area and if you haven't Ben to the Washington memorial, it's an easy climb look alike. From the 294th step views of the city are beautiful.

A catch: Many steps to climb....was a good workout....nice views and a place where somehow time seems to stop for a moment.

“Tough climb, beautiful view”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

The 294 steps seem endless with only tiny rectangular vent holes in the granite walls every 1/4 turn so if you are claustrophobic or not in good shape, just enjoy the monument from the bottom. Fortunately, there are numbers on the steps about every 25 so you know how far you have left. The steps are pretty good sized so take it easy going up or you'll be dead before you get to the top. At the top, hopefully you'll be able to catch a breeze from one of the windows while you take in a spectacular view of Charlestown and Boston. Take it easy going down too so your legs won't cramp up.

The new location of the museum across the street is nice and roomy compared to the little blockhouse next door. I'm glad they moved it.
