“Charming and affordable!”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Room:
I recently stayed at Abigayle's (also: The Brownstone) Bed and Breakfast and I couldn't have had a more pleasant stay. I was traveling alone for a conference and stayed in one of the single rooms for 5 nights. I was a little nervous about this choice because the bathroom was in the hallway (although it was a private bathroom.) This turned out to be fine; my room door was directly next to the bathroom door. My room was small, but it was really all I needed, plus it was way more affordable than all the hotels I was looking at originally.
My room was located at the rear of the house and I had read reviews that complained of the noise from the postal trucks in the morning. Li gave me a white-noise maker and I slept better than I usually do, it completely blocked out the sound.

Overall:
The B&B is very charming and decorative. The owners (Vic and Li) are friendly and interesting, but they don't bother you unnecessarily. The breakfast in the morning is continental. I was occasionally late for breakfast and they were very accommodating when I came down as they were going to start cleaning up.

Cleanliness:
The cleaning lady was at the b&b every day, cleaning every room, bathroom, and all the public spaces. I always had clean towels and a very clean bathroom, and my bed was always made when I came back in the evening. There wasn't even any dust on the wood floor underneath the bed. This place is VERY clean!

Location:
Finally, the location CANNOT be beat! It's a block from a slew of great restaurants, from the Kenmore T-stop, from a bus stop, and it's in walking distance of virtually everything you might want to sight-see in the city.
Overall, an awesome stay and I will definitely be back!

The location was great; minutes walking distance from restaurants, bars, liquor stores, Starbucks, shopping, and the T (subway transit) to take you everywhere else. There is only one parking spot though, and you have to reserve in advance for an extra $20/night, so that is a downside. Breakfast was great and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. The only problems that we had was that we wished they would have provided more towels, and that the hot water of the shower had to be run for a good 10 minutes before the temperature was acceptably warm.

Thank you for your feedback. We would have been happy to supply more towels if you had asked and would have checked the hot water if we had known there was a problem. We're glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope to welcome you again the next time you visit Boston!

We stayed at Abigayle's through a snowy weekend in February where the blizzard covered cars in the street. The B&B was a charming, cosy getaway that was perfectly located in a nice neighborhood. It offered a good continental breakfast (no cooked meal as it is against local Government requirements), old clawfoot baths, woodpanelled staircase and a 19th century nautical decor. It's only moments from the local Starbucks, McDonald's, Barnes & Noble, Boston Uni and Fenway Park. For dining, there are cheap options or more upmarket seafood restaurants. The hosts were lovely and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other couples.

This is our 3rd stay at Abigayle's and we love this Bed and Breakfast. For us location is the main reason, it is right on Kenmore square, you can easily walk to everywhere around Fenway Park or take the T (which is 5 min. walk) to downtown Boston. The hosts are great, accommodating, welcoming. The breakfast is nice. The rooms are comfortable. This is a bed and breakfast not a five star hotel, so if you adjust your expectations accordingly, you would more than happy to stay in this place. It is also located on a safe area, safe street, nice brownstones and all. I would recommend to book the front rooms if you can, the back rooms are slightly more nosier, nothing to worry too much though.

We stayed 3 nights -- to explore Boston and visit the museum plus a concert. The location was very good -- transport a few steps away, likewise convenience stores and a range of restaurants.
The hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Room 3A is recommended.

Definitely one of my best travelling experiences in the United States. The place is clean, quiet, staff is really friendly and helpful, always giving you tips for visiting. The subway is just round the corner. Wi-fi connection is fast and stable. Breakfast is basic but ok. Definitely recommended for people that prefer to feel like home rather than aseptic franchises.
