We enjoyed the hotel well enough but spent a fair amount of time talking to a couple of their lowest paid workers. The benefits they are seeking are very modest and the protections they want are very basic. My wife and I travel a great deal and would happily pay more if it meant the money would go into the pockets of the people that make a stay in any hotel pleasant. We cannot in good conscience stay at any Hotels of the World properties until they figure that out.

We were so disheartened by our visit. The hotel was quite expensive, but we were willing to pay for the excellent location. However, staff have been striking for a year. Consequently, there were protests outside in the morning.

We explored their demands and they are reasonable. The hotel will not bend, so there is a lack of service and an abandoned air at a great location. Owners, please consider treating your people fairly (aka, no health care is provided, etc).

If you support fair working conditions, do not stay here.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of the Battery Wharf Hotel. We are delighted that you recognized our fantastic location! Your description of the hotel is definitely not characteristic of our standards. We are disappointed to hear and sincerely apologize that your visit was blemished by the disruption and inconvenience of the labor dispute. Please know that the hotel is still fully operational and it is our hope that an agreement that is fair and equal to all parties is reached very soon. We hope to have a chance to ensure your next stay with us ensures a changed perception of our hotel.

Reception was wonderful and helped us change rooms due to excessive loudness next door. Truly appreciated. The room a/c didn't seem to be working well. We had it at 65 and it was pretty warm. Sadly, we were woken up by protesters on Sunday Morning. When we checked in at 4-ish on Saturday, there were several trays on the floor for housekeeping to remove (room service food) When we returned 6 hours later, most where still there. Seems like a long time.

We love the location of this hotel, but this trip was NOT worth the price we paid for it.

My husband and I left Battery Wharf hotel on Sunday, August 25th after a very disappointing stay. We were delayed on a long flight from San Francisco so didnt arrive until 23.oo hours. The approach to the hotel was dull, poorly lit and uninviting. There was no porter to help with our bags. There was no food available and no drink either though a very decent barman did manage to serve us a glass of wine.
Our bags were taken to our room but we were left to find our own way to our room which was in a separate building. Not an arrangement to be recommended as we were left feeling we had rented an air b&b, and a poor one at that. At no stage did it feel like we were staying in a reputable hotel in Boston.
Each of the three mornings we stayed we were woken at 8.15am by a protest march, which lasted 30 minutes,by the employees who have serious grievances which management are not dealing with and while these grievances are valid they should be dealt with by management, not the guests. At no stage did management do us the courtesy of telling us what was going on or apologize for any inconvenience. Our holiday was deeply impacted by this action and lack of communication by management which was totally unacceptable, management should be ashamed of the level of service which guests received this w/e.
On checking out there was one person on reception trying to deal with both guests checking in and guests checking out, resulting in long waits on both sides.
We would not recommend this hotel to others nor would we stay there again.
Since we left I have been contacted by Nick a manager asking me to write a review for Trip Advisor, I did indeed write a review which I sent to Nick but as yet have received no acknowledgement of my complaint.
This is a well positioned hotel, with nice staff ( the few we met) however the total disregard shown to the guests this w/e by management is nothing short of disgreceful and my advice to other travellers is FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY!

Dear Dublinlass,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a comment during your recent stay at the Battery Wharf. We apologize that this stay was not what you had anticipated, especially the inconvenience of the noise and presence of the strikes. Our property is a waterfront oasis in the North End with four separate buildings which guests have the underground passage or over the street from one building to another. Our restaurant Battery Wharf Grille closes at 10:00pm and reopens for breakfast at 6:30am. Our team had the pleasure to serve you and your husband during your holiday and for any further feedback, please do not hesitate to reach us at: contactus@batterywharfhotel.com.
We hope to invite you back for a relaxing stay in the future and thank you once again for your review.

Sincerely,
Ji Sun Lee

Upon check in we were very pleased with the look and location of the hotel. However the following morning we were woken by the chants and drumming of a protest from the workers of the hotel. I called to reception and was informed that there was a potential workers strike looming. It was then that I looked up news articles to find out more and wow....what i learned was astounding. Before i continue i will give credit to a very good manager who was quick to remedy the issue as far as compensation for being roused from a very comfortable sleep, however that did not remedy the fact that had we known that this hotel is holding out signing a contract based mostly on wording that would give minorities and immigrants protection from harassment etc., is absolutely appalling.
To the hotel management/owners.....your people are the most important cog in your machine. This is 2019....its time to get with the rest of the world and give your support to ALL your workers. Sign the contract.
We travel...alot....We will not frequent any of your properties until a fair settlement is reached and will share our experience with others.
As for the room, it was decent albeit a bit outdated. The wallpaper is peeling in the bathroom. Kudos to your room attendants as the room was very clean and serviced quickly. Your front desk staff and valets were also friendly and helpful.

Room tip: As mentioned, fix the peeling wallpaper. It looks 3rd rate.
