“Great hotel, but Fairmont customer service response to smokers burnt us on our stay”
Reviewed January 2, 2010

Let me start with the good. Rooms are wonderful. Espresso machine in the room...yes! My technologically savvy husband was very impressed with all the "gadgets." We stayed in the hotel on New Year's Eve. We booked a group of rooms and the staff was very accomodating and assured our rooms were together. We overlooked the harbor and had an excellent view of the midnight fireworks. Cribs (not a portable pack n-play) were provided with a convenience pack of travel wipes, a couple of diapers, lotion and shampoo (nice touch). Doormen are very personable and accomodating. The food at Sensing was great (brunch).

Now the bad...one of our family members had a double lung transplant and we were celebrating his life and our ability to ring in 2010 together. We had a group of younger women in the room next to us smoking (yes, the entire hotel is non-smoking, but some people care only about themselves--they even had a balcony in the harbor suite they were staying in). When we smelled smoke the first time, we called the front desk. Response was that they were addressing it with the occupants and if they received additional complaints, they would move the offenders. I know that was not the only complaint. We'll this continued throughout the wee hours of the morning (when you don't want to move your own room) and each time hotel staff addressed with the offenders, but never moved the group as promised. A sleepless night was the least of our concerns-- we were mainly concerned with the damage to our family member's lungs. Attempted to address our issues at checkout the next morning and staff basically said "too bad, so sad." All other Fairmont staff were more than accomodating and top notch. All I can say is move your room as soon as you think you have a problem floormate to avoid the issues we encountered.

We had a waterfront room. You could lay in bed and see the water. The rooms are beautiful and very romantic. Great get away to Boston. Walk to the North End.
Highly recommend.

We stayed at the Fairmont while touring Boston before a family wedding on the Cape.

Pros: The rooms are fantastic, and have a monster bathroom with marble floors, glass shower, and neat pass-thru design on the closets (opens into the room and into the bathroom). Bed was very comfy, and the room was well equipped with tech. Free wifi if you register for their Presidents? club.

Cons: the only con was that they were at the top of the north end and a bit of a hike to the subway.

We didn't really try any of the hotel amenities, we were simply looking for a nice place to sleep in the North End, spending most of our time out and about.

I stayed at this hotel approximately 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. The decor is outstanding and the staff is very friendly and knowledgable. My children absolutely loved the location close to the water. I rented a car at the airport and had trouble finding the hotel. I recommend the water taxi that I found out about later... much easier! The front desk was great with directions, but after explaining that I had gotten lost, they offered me the use of a complimentary GPS to help me get around town! What a life saver!

I recommend this hotel. It is outstanding!

Just spent 4No x pleasant nights at the Battery Wharf. Cant imagine that there are many better hotels to stay in within the city.

Location isnt too bad, Little Italy is only a short walk away and the rest of the city centre is reachable within 15 - 20 mins on foot.

The restaurant will soon be well known, standard is very high though its setting belies its quality. Almost feels as if the establishment is in the financial district or something.

The staff are the best I have ever come across, couldnt do enough to help.

Rooms are lovely, good size and the bathrooms are of a very good standard.

Big thumbs up and I would recommend it to anyone.

Stayed here in June 2009 & had a lovely king room, water view. Room was great with all expected 4-5* hotel amenities. Loved the location: easy ealking distance to North side restaurants & historical sites. Would strongly recommend for both business & lesiure travelers. President's Club member so free WIFI. Have stayed in a lot of Boston hotels & this is my new favorite.

My wife and I stayed at the fairmont battery wharf for our anniversary and found it perfect. The room was beautiful with contemporary designs, the marble bathroom was beautiful with a walk-in rainforest shower. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Its nice because it's right by the water where it is nice and quiet as opposed to in the middle of boston where it's noisy with all the cars and such. It's a two minute walk to Hanover St. where there are great authentic italian restaurants and a 10-15 minute walk to the government center/haymarket T stop which will take you anywhere in boston. We went to the Sensing hotel restaurant for brunch and had delicious crepes and blueberry pancakes as well as some fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice. Wonderful hotel! Pictures are from the 2nd floor of Building 3, in the Junior King Suite
