I had the fortune to try out this exclusive bar this past Saturday. Tucked in the lower floor of a building not far from the World Trade Center, Drink combines an elegant simplicity with expertly chosen small details (such as small glasses of water and appropriate music volume) to make the atmosphere conducive to relaxation and conversation. This is helped by the fact that the bar seems to operate under maximum capacity. I believe the only reason I was able to get in quickly to this popular establishment was that one of my friends knew someone having a private gathering in one end of the bar; the line to get in was longer when I looked later and I fear I will have trouble getting in so quickly in the future.

However, the wait would be worthwhile. I ordered two drinks, a Caipirinha and a Dark & Stormy, from our incredibly knowledgeable and friendly bartender, Cali. Her deliciously mixed Dark & Stormy has probably ruined my ability to order the drink elsewhere. She made a flaming whiskey drink for a friend of mine that involved the pouring of the burning liquid back and forth between pitchers in a captivating display.

Other touches were similarly noticeable. One of my friends ordered a cheese plate and an order of fries, both of which were quite tasty. When others in the larger party we joined in that corner hijacked the order of fries before my friend got to them, the staff insisted on bringing him a new order. Beyond this, the bar staff seemed to be enjoying their work, with smiles and good humor all around, despite the number of patrons they were serving. Even with how busy they were, they were quite attentive.

This place is somewhat pricey, although not extraordinarily so and if you base your expectations on prices and drinks elsewhere, your value greatly exceeds the cost here.

I look forward to returning to Drink for special occasions in the future.

Drink located in South Boston's cool Fort Point area is a bar of distinction. Drink is located in a basement in an old brick building and is easy to miss. Inside is a "cellar chic" den of cocktail sophistication. The bar offers a small menu of small plate snacks and a small wine and beer list but no cocktail list. It does not matter that there is no cocktail list at Drink because the bartenders are experts in creating the perfect cocktail. The bartenders ask your preferences and mood. They create your drink from scratch! These drinks are quite small and come in fancy, almost antique-like glasses for a price (but well worth it). The bar is fairly minimalist and has cool lighting with exposed brick and stone. Its the ultimate in the art and science of the perfect cocktail!

Fun place with an old school speakeasy style, but it can get miserably crowded and seating is terribly limited.

Cool place like an old time Speakeasy. The cocktails were very, very good. They don't have a drink list so you have to tell the bartender what type of drink you are in the mood for. He got mine spot on! The down side is since it takes quite a long time to make each drink, service was slow and as it got busier in the night it was hard flagging down a bartender for another drink.
