“Comfortable and well located in Boston”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

Spent a Friday overnight stay at The Langham. $28 for overnight valet parking at this hotel was a bargain. Check in was quick and efficient except the NYTimes they promised us for the morning never showed up... despite our request the next day to have it delivered. We were told it is not delivered on Sat. a.m. but went past one of the rooms on our floor (7) and saw it on the floor for another guest...
Hotel lobby is being renovated so there wasn't any place to sit in that area..; third floor had a nice spa/pool/exercise facility and we used the pool and jacuzzi which was great... (zen music playing so it was a nice de-stressing atmosphere)...
We did not eat in the restaurants because they were way too expensive.
Room was nicely appointed and comfortable but when we entered it was like 50 degrees .. talk about wasting energy... 2 bottles of water were $9 a piece.. really?? Come on guys... insanity at the hilt! Bring your own water bottles!...
We waited at least 20 minutes for the valet to bring around our car on Sat. morning.. despite the fact that they said it would be 5-10 minutes...
All in all.. a decent place to stay but not stellar.. we will try a different property next time...

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view instead of a room that faces the pool courtyard area which is what we got

Stayed at The Langham for a few days after New England/Canada cruise with family. Its proximity to the harbour, airport, shopping, Quincy/South Markets and even Boston Commons was great. We seemed to be able to walk everywhere from the hotel while pushing a stroller with our 6 month old. Room was clean and well appointed and other patrons and staff were extremely understandable with odd outburst from my daughter. Didn't try restaurant for breakfast or otherwise as visited neighbouring hotel with view of water. Perhaps only downside was lack of view, but secured a good price on hotel through Hotwire.

I stayed in the Langham in May for a few days and I was delighted by my room which looked over the park. It was both comfortable and elegant.
The front staff were perhaps overly attentive, but this was not to a fault.
The one problem that I encountered during my stay was room service. While the service itself was fine, one night the dirty dishes were not picked up for just under 24 hours, even though I called ahead. The corridors are covered with room service for hours at a time...a problem that I haven't encountered to the same extent in other hotel stays.
The location of the hotel would be great mid week, but while quite on the weekends with not very much open around the hotel, it is a quick walk to the bay, a short walk to Boston Common and a reasonable walk to the more interesting areas like Back Bay.
Also, the wifi is very expensive and I found it to be quite unreliable.

THE GOOD: THE SERVICE THE SERVICE THE SERVICE. Can't say it enough. I don't know where they get these people but they are darn good. The door staff, the concierge, the front desk staff, housekeeping, the spa staff, and the man who delivered our room service were all among the best I have ever seen. With every interaction they were SO on the mark. These guys should be conducting training programs for other hotels or something. The location is also very good and I love the old building with the red awnings. The pool was great and the workout facility looked very nice as well. I can't say much else for the physical as they are renovating and most of the public space was empty or cordoned off. The quality of our room service food was very good and lunch at Bond was terrific. THE BAD: Room was dated and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. I don't know what we paid as it was a business trip but my guess is that the room category was near the bottom of the barrel. It was small (but with very high ceilings so it appeared larger) and in need of some updating but everything was in good or excellent condition. The bathroom had a strange odor to it that seemed to improve when I closed the drain to the bathtub and the air conditioner made a whining noise when it was running. My guess is that this room is on the short list for a makeover as other reviewers seemed to be complimentary of their beds. So, although I have a few complaints about it, I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others. I am sure when the renovation is over the Langham will look phenomenal!

This is pretty much the only place we will stay in Boston. The hotel is simply elegant, classic and the staff is wonderful. We have loved our stays here. The rooms are very comfortable, decorated so you feel like you are at home (if you lived in a mansion someplace). The restaurant has the best breakfast we have ever had. The staff goes above and beyond to help, or offer ideas for things to do while in the city. We are always happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Our favorite room was a 2 level suite, not sure the name of it but it was amazing. The windows were...

Dear Rebecca E,
What a flattering review! I am honored that you enjoy The Langham, Boston so much that it is the only hotel you frequent when in Boston. I am happy that you found our accommodations to your liking, and even more pleased that our staff has represented us well. We focus on providing the best customer service, and in your case it seems we have succeeded. I hope you will return to the hotel once our renovations are complete. We have updated the lobby to a more contemporary style, as well as added a new outlet that will offer quick meals for our ‘on-the-go’ guests. We look forward to hosting you again soon!

My Husband and I stayed here July 2-July 9th. The first time a hotel was actually a highlight of a trip! The staff was so thoughtful and helpful. Dan and David, the concierges, were so helpful with every task or question. David is a gregarious, happy guy. We had a problem with the AC in our room and had to move (very hot in our room) and Antone at the desk, with patience and a friendly smile took us to look at several rooms. We had complimentary breakfast with our room which was excellent and the severs were so nice and helpful, I wish I coud remember all their names, I do remember a David. And the hostesses Winda and Beverly made sure we had "our" special table secluded by the window overlooking the park, we loved our breakkfasts, great start to the day. We had several fun trips in the complimentary pink taxi. Our drivers Alex and Michael were so nice. The same nice female desk clerk checked us in and checked us out. She was so pleasant and thoughtful while helping us with an error on our bill. The housekeeping staff does a great job in keeping everything very clean with just one exception, there was a dirty rim around the pool and the coiled dividers were dirty as well. I mentioned this to the staff and have no doubt it's been taken care of. As far as location, very close to the Warf and Faneuli Hall, the North End and the trolley and subway stops and we thought the financial district is the nicer part of town and quiet.

Room Tip: I would suggest to ask for a top floor room over looking the park

Lovely hotel with very helpful staff. Nice pool and gym. Good area for business or sightseeing. On the down side - very expensive wifi (should be free especially at these prices) and bottled water in the room $9? There was extensive work going on in the lobby which had been supposed to be finished a couple of months earlier however full rate was required..
