Great stay
My room was clean, no dust, shower water pressure good. I didn't give hotel a 5 because I nearly hot scalded in the shower. Without warning the water went from comfortable hot to searing hot. So hot I jumped to back of shower. I told the first desk and he said he would get back with me today. I never heard. Ate dinner at hotel restaurant. Waiter was wonderful and friendly. My shrimp app was great. My Caesar salad was tasteless and the risotto was the worst I ever had. I gave the hotel a 4 because it is a beautiful hotel, staff is good, rooms are spacious and very clean. I will stay again because it is company approved.

Hi Golfermom28, Thank you for taking time to review your recent stay. It is feedback such as yours that really helps us to exceed guests’ expectations at every opportunity, whether it be in the simple form of a relaxing dinner or a comfortable guest room and relaxing shower. I'm sorry that this was not the case. Please be in touch regarding your next stay, we'd love a chance to really wow and delight, instead of merely being a company approved hotel. All my best, Emily qualitybosto@hyatt.com

I was pleasantly surprised because the outside of this hotel doesn't look that luxurious and I didn't particularly like the look of the neighborhood. The spacious lobby is located on the 3rd floor and reception staff was helpful and friendly. My room was quite large, nicely furnished, and very clean. I was pleased that it also had a mini refrigerator. Unlike a lot of hotels, there were an abundance of outlets for computer and cell phone charging. The bathroom was a little more spacious than some I've stayed in and had a bathtub/shower combo. The soundproofing was less than desired. I could hear the person next to me sneeze and cough. I was a little disappointed in the hotel dining facilities as well. Avenue One Restaurant was small and flowed into the lounge and bar area. The bar wasn't as lively as most hotel bars I've visited and didn't have many comfy chairs and couches for visiting. Overall the hotel is great, but there weren't that many restaurants to choose from within steps. I asked the Concierge about a nearby seafood restaurant and there were none. It's New England! I wanted lobster. As a single traveling alone, I didn't feel comfortable on the streets alone after dark in this part of town. Other areas I've stayed at such as near Faneuil Hall and closer to the Back Bay area seemed to be more open and friendly after dark. I got a good price through Priceline Express Deal and would consider staying again in the summer when the days are longer because you can walk two blocks or so to nice restaurants. If you don't mind paying extra money for a room, I'd suggest staying in the Back Bay area around Stuart/Arlington to the west side of Charles St.

Hi Gigi F, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is our hope that each and every guest has a relaxing and comfortable stay and are so glad you enjoyed your clean and spacious room. I do apologize, however, for the noise disruptions and for the opportunities with Avenue One. Located in the heart of downtown Boston, we are experiencing a lot of new and exciting changes, including the addition of many great seafood restaurants. We hope to welcome you back during the warmer months! Best, Emily qualitybosto@hyatt.com

Hyatt Boston has a decent location in the Financial district and most of the features of a premium hotel brand but NO ROOM SAFE. Unless you want to carry your laptop and other valuables with you whenever you leave the room, your only option is to go the the check-in desk, wait your turn in line behind those who are checking in or out. Then the desk person will get a key and open the catering office and lead you into another room that has 8 safes. You will then be required to fill out a form with your name, address, room number, phone number, etc.., then you are assigned a safe in which to put your valuables. When you want to retrieve your things, you go through the same procedure. EVERY TIME. My wife and I travel a lot. From Holiday Inn Express to Ritz Carlton and most brands in between, we have never stayed where there was no room safe.

Also, the bathrooms are smaller than a motel six and they stock the room with one regular coffee and one decaf. If you are traveling with another person, one of you will have to have decaf. However, if you are thirsty, they do have 2 bottles of water on the room desk with price tags of $3.50 each. These are the same Aquafina 20oz. plastic bottles you can get at Costco for 35 cents each.

I am surprised and disappointed with this hotel and the Hyatt brand. This is also the first time I feel let down by TripAdvisor giving this place a travel award! We will not return to or recommend this hotel. If you don't travel with any valuables that need a safe, don't mind small bathrooms and don't need 2 regular coffees, you might like to stay here. In fairness, they have a nice TV and comfortable beds. Hope this was helpful.

Room Tip: If you want a good room, stay somewhere else.

Hi HPH360, Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. It is feedback such as yours that helps us to improve each and every day. We have implemented laptop-sized safes for personal use which will complement our room renovations. We know that seasoned travelers such as yourself have better things to do than wait in lines and fill out forms. Please be in touch during your next visit to Boston. We’d love a chance to welcome you back and make your next stay more than expected. Best, Emily qualitybosto@hyatt.com

The best part of our stay was the welcome from the doorman and concierge staff..always cheerful and happy to give advice about local transport and places to eat etc...try Paneera for breakfast or lunch. The hotel is pleasant enough with a large reception area which is accessed by a lift from ground level!!! The rooms are adequate and comfortable but charges for bottled water and wifi are rather excessive, though WiFi is complementary in the lobby. The location is ok but rather built up as its in the financial area though close to theatres. Boston common is a short walk away . If you're feeling energetic the gym is well equipped with up to date machines.
Just be careful as you check out of your room. Ensure you have all your belongings with you. If you don't, you might just not get them back!!!

Service is ambivalent at best, rude at worst. The rooms look like they've been refreshed, but it's like they forgot to renovate the hallway, and even though they seem to be updated they don't feel clean, fresh or new. Like they slapped on a new coat of paint and thought they could justify $200 per night in Downtown Crossing - clearly not a very central location. I am a Hyatt Platinum member and this stay was a total disappointment.

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel attending a conference in the hotel. The food was the worst I've ever experienced, hence the poor rating. I will not return. The hotel was OK, room comfortable but tired, staff friendly.
