“Great Location, alright hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

The hotel is in a good location, you can walk to Boston Common and the subway is very close as well, and it's only a 10 minute walk to get to the harbor. The hotel lobby is very modern, but the rooms are not. The rooms are nice but they could use some updating to match the cool vibe in the lobby. My biggest pet peeve about this hotel though is the doors. IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEP BEWARE! The doors slam shut and starting around 6am you will get woken up from the slamming doors. The walls also seem to be pretty thin. Not the best Hyatt Regency I've stayed in, but not horrible or dirty by any means.

What we liked about the hotel
Good location
Clean
Reasonable service
What we did not like about it
Nothing in particular but it lacks warmth and personality.

In conclusion this is a perfectly reasonable hotel in a good location but it does lack personality. Give it a try if it meets your budget and you plan to be out and about a lot.

We stayed at the Hyatt on our recent trip to Boston. The food was good as we ate breakfast and a few dinners there. The service was fantastic. Only two draw backs -- the first was not being able to watch the Black Hawk / Boston Bruins games in our rooms. We would have preferred to order room service and watch the games in our room instead of having to be forced to go down to the bar. When I ordered extra towels for our room I was specific about what we needed and we were shorted. Room size was good for four adults (mom, dad and two teenagers). There was a fridge but once you opened the door charges began to acrue for contents.

Room Tip: The beds seemed small. Double instead of Queen.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Boston. The staff always greeted us by name and with a smile. The room was very comfortable with large beds and a nice size bathroom. The location was close to the Common and mass transit stations. The area has a few nice restaurants and quaint bookstores. We covered a lot of ground during our 6 day stay and the Hyatt was centralized enough so we never had to go too far in any direction. We will stay there again in future visits.

We only stayed one night, but we were treated like royalty. I can't say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. Every staff member we encountered treated us like we were the most important people in the hotel. We had a nice room, extremely clean and neat. Much of the hotel needs a face lift. Cosmetically it looks a bit old. But it's still neat and clean and esthetically inoffensive. Just needs a pick me up. The room was more than comfortable and had all the conveniences anyone would need. And, the location is terrific as it's pretty central to everything. I'd stay again.

Room Tip: We had a corner room, so that's the only experience I can comment on. It's large with a weir...

Green Features: It's a very green hotel. Lots abiut that in the rooms and the hotel in general. The restaraunt in the hotel has a slogan of "Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served." I recommend the restaraunt in another review too.

I had a really nice two night stay here. As with past Hyatt Regency's I've stayed at, this one lives up to their standards. The room was actually pretty roomy compared to other downtown Boston hotels. It was a busy time in Boston so a lot of hotels were either sold out or incredibly high...the room I got (King) was $360. My rate did include internet.

The room had a very comfortable bed, a decent view, and really nice amenities in a good sized bathroom.

As for the rest of the hotel, the fitness room (which is a hike to get to) is adequate sized...based on past Hyatt's I was expecting more. The lobby bar is nice, on the small size but nice.

One thing I loved, I was on the 19th floor and when you come off the elevator there was a 3 floor atrium/open space. Not sure how this is repeated through the hotel though. It also had a very good smell, as strange as that sounds.

Three negatives...the elevator system is annoying. You ride the elevator down to the lobby...then have to take another elevator to street level and parking/valet. Two, valet was extremely expensive $50/night. Three, my package had breakfast included, which I forgot...mainly because the check in clerk did not remind me.

Overall, I'd definitely stay here again. Good location.

My daughter & I stayed at the Hyatt during her college tour in March. We had a great deal from Hotwire and were very pleased with the hotel's location. We tend to be "DIY" travelers and chose to walk with rolling suitcases from South Station to the hotel during a snowstorm! The streets can be confusing in that area, but using the mobile Google maps app, we were at the hotel in 10 minutes. The hotel is on the edge of Chinatown and we felt very safe walking there in the evening. There's a movie theatre a few blocks away adjacent to Boston Common and several T stations (Boston's subway) are within a 5-10 minute walk. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The front desk staff was very helpful, including the young man who was interning as part of Boston University's hospitality program and took an interest in telling my daughter about BU. We had a late afternoon flight and were able to store our luggage with the bellman at no charge. The walk back to South Station was much more enjoyable in the sunshine :)

Room Tip: Better view on high floors
