I stayed here for a shopping weekend and I chose the guest house because of the location. It was a great choice. You are within walking distance of lots of shopping and the guest house sits right on Newbury street which has lots of boutiques and restaurants. We bought olive oil across the street and shopped at both copley place and the prudential center shops just 2 blocks away. The rooms are decent size and have a mini-fridge nice tv's and any basics you might need. Parking is conveniently behind the building and though it does cost extra, so does everywhere else in Boston. The building itself is pretty but old. Some of the stairs are a little crooked but everything is clean which is probably most important. If you want to stay somewhere fancy, modern and spacious you will have to pay a lot more and this probably isn't the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere moderately priced, clean and simply nice, this is it.

Room Tip: Some people say to get a room overlooking Newbury. The view will be better, but you can hear people...

I stayed here on a recent business trip, and had definitely mixed feelings. The neighborhood is great and the location is convenient to the T, so it is pretty easy to get anywhere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and (as noted elsewhere) the hotel had a distinctly European feel in its layout and ambiance.

There were a few "issues" though. To start with, I had paid extra for a "Bay Window Room", thinking that it would look out on Newbury street. Instead, I was in the back of the hotel overlooking the alley, and the large middle portion of the "window" was actually walled in above a non-functional fireplace. Instead of light and airy, it was dark and depressing.

Additionally, the walls were very thin and the wall-mounted flat-screen TV turned the whole wall into a giant speaker ... one which transmitted TV sound to the adjacent room (mine) as well as the one in which the TV was actually being used. This was a distraction both during work time and sleep time. The bed was also entirely too hard for a comfortable night sleep.

The location and price may bring me back, but it was not my most wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Do not get fooled by the "Bay Window Room" description ... call directly and insist on a r...

You put together in a bowl great location, nice bedrooms, confortable facilities and (Believe!!) a complimentary breakfast included in your price and you get this hotel. Add already free wifi seringa enough to do whatever your want in your devices confortably in your room.
Nice placê, wonderful but expansive sorroundings with wonderful restaurants, that is what you get.
I deffinitly recomend and would be back!

Room Tip: I got a back bedroom (312) and no noise at all was heard.

My stay at the Newbury Guest House was so magical. Upon arriving the front desk person was so helpful I immediately felt very comfortable. Traveling solo can sometimes be a little freighting but not at the Newbury Guest House. Since it was my birthday, my children wanted to surprise me with flowers and a bottle of wine. The front desk person helped them find a florist and wine shop and when I opened my door to my room there was my big surprise. The front desk had complied a small note and attached it to the wine bottle. Such detail! I would highly recommend this lovely hotel and will definitely stay there again on my return trip to Boston. The location could not be better. Wish I could give a higher rating than 5.

This place is a true gem in the heart of Newbury Street. It has a very European feel. The breakfast is so good, eggs, bacon, pancakes! Such a quaint little hotel. Nothing but good things to say. This will be come the place we stay in Boston!

Great location for 'newbies' traveling to Boston, in the center of things yet tremendously more affordable than most of the well-known chain hotels. Would definitely stay again, and have recommended to friends traveling to the area.

Very happy with my recent stay here. The hotel is very conveniently located on Newbury Street about halfway between two T stops. I'm not terribly into shopping, but if you are, it's a great location. I appreciated it for being in a neighborhood, as opposed to a business district. The room itself was very nice -- fairly large and very clean, and the bed was excellent, extremely comfortable. The service was also very good; I met a friend who flew in on a red eye and not only was she able to get into our room on arrival, but she was offered breakfast as well. Breakfast was actually the one thing I was slightly disappointed in; it was fine, I just thought it might be better.
