We had a fabulous time at the Hilton Back Bay for my 40th birthday trip. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean, and you are just steps from the T and Boylston and Newbury St. The fruit infused water in the lobby is a nice touch. The beds are VERY comfortable!

Have just spent 5 nights at Hilton Back Bay Boston. Hotel was fine (i.e. normally expected standard for a city hilton). No complaints about bedroom, staff or hotel (although bathroom was on small side) Gym and pool were really good and often empty, especially the outside sun deck. 5 mins walk from a big Shaws store (which you can actually walk to undercover via the shopping mall opposite). The exec lounge was busy at breakfast, but they seemed to just put people down to the main restaurant. Food was OK in exec lounge but I think this is not a proper exec lounge, so fairly limited. Service from staff was fine and location excellent being near Prudential and Hynes T stops. Although there is nothing to rave about, there was nothing wrong with this hotel either.

Room Tip: We had a room on 23rd which had great views and two double beds, smallish bathroom. 2309.

This is our first stay at the Back Bay Hilton property. They upgraded us to a deluxe view on the 20th floor. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and roomy. Our view was of Christian Science building direction. Very easy to get around with taxi or "T" nearby, lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. Full range of options from inexpensive cafes, grocery stores all the way to the high end choices. Hotel parking was $40 a day. Definitely a strong consideration for our next visit.

We stayed here over night prior to going to a Red Sox game at Fenway. I really wanted to like this hotel. The location was ideal for walking to the ad hoc memorial in Copley Square and dining on Newbury Street as well as going to Fenway. We chose a corner room which was interestingly shaped (in a good way) with a panoramic view out of a curved wall of windows. I would have given it five stars for design. The problem came at night. The fan for the ventilation system was loud, but provided an acceptable white noise. However, when it shut off, there was an irregular, metallic banging from the ventilation duct. It made sleeping very difficult. I ended up with a pillow over my head to block out the noise. Had we noticed it during the evening, we would have asked for a new room but changing in the middle of the night seemed more disruptive. We told the housekeeper, but she didn't seem to understand. At check out, the clerk was pleasant and comp'ed the parking fee which was nice, but I would have rather been able to sleep. A small item, but one that speaks to the attention to detail, involved the shower. It was a large, walk-in with sliding glass doors. However the doors were installed such that the overlap directed the water stream out onto the bathroom floor. Switching the inside and outside tracks would have easily fixed it, but wasn't something we could do because of the handles. Breakfast at the restaurant was marred by overcooked, dry food.
Overall these lowered our rating. If we had eaten out and had a quiet room, we would have rated it much higher.

Thank you for your feedback in regards to the heater and shower not working in your room. I've worked with maintenance to fix the issue, however I apologize that it wasn't resolved sooner. Thank you again for your review and I invite you to stay with us the next time you return to Boston.

In April, just after the Boston terror incidents, my family was in town for a graduation from Northeastern University. They arrived on Friday afternoon in the midst of the Boston lockdown. This hotel remained at full service and treated them fantastic. The incidentals I had ordered for their arrival (cookies, milk and a small fridge) were all waiting for them when they arrived. The room was absolutely huge. It was a king room on the 26th floor that overlooked Fenway Park and the Boston FD Boylston St station (Ladder 15 and Engine 33). For any fire buffs looking for a great room, this one was it, you could quite literally keep an eye on the fire station from your room and see them going and returning from every call. I was able to get some great pictures from the 26th floor of both the fire station and Fenway Park. The rest of the amenities were in line with all the Hilton properties including the 24 hour snack store. I definitely plan on staying here myself the next time I'm in Boston - mainly due to the Sheraton having very small rooms. (See Sheraton Back Bay review).

Room Tip: ask for a room that overlooks Fenway park and the fire station.

I had stayed at this hotel over 20 years ago on my first visit to Boston. Fortunately, the hotel has been renovated since then. We received an upgraded room on the 20th floor with views towards Cambridge and the Charles River. The room was very spacious, with a comfortable bed. It would have been nice, in fact, to have a larger TV in the room, given the distance from the bed and lounge chair. The bathroom, as other reviewers have noted, is very small, which makes it almost impossible for 2 people to get ready at the same time. The hotel is in a very convenient location, close to the Prudential Center, Boylston Street and T-stops for the Hynes Convention Center.

My biggest complaint is about the conceirge lounge. It wasn't clear if the location on the third floor was a permanent location, but it was marked with a temporary sign and obviously was a converted meeting room. Breakfasts were done nicely, with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and assorted breakfast breads, but the afternoon snacks were very sparse (no alcohol is served). Also, there were desserts on only 2 days, served at the same time as the afternoon snacks (one day, there were only about 6 chocolate covered strawberries, which disappeared within minutes after the tray was put out). Be aware if you're a Gold/Diamond VIP or paying for a conceirge level upgrade.

Great location for marathon weekend. Across the road from expo. Only a minute or two to Boylston Street. Fifteen minute walk to Cropley Square and mara bus pickup. Walking distance to heart of restuarant scene. Rooms just OK. A bit dated and small bathroom. No noise issues up on 20th floor, however others on low levels mentioned some issues. Front desk a bit hit and miss. Sometimes great, at other times hopeless. Room servicing a bit inattentive to requests. Unfortunately took a few late night prank calls (scammers posing as front desk night manager requesting credit card confirmation details) on room phone. I wasn't aware that Joe Public could directly dial a room. Would I stay there again? Only if there were no better options.
