“perfectly situated for Boston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

just stayed here and have to say this hotel ideally situated for Newbury street boston
literally across the road for all the shops and restaurants and parks. One thing we found expensive was the drinks i hotel bar which was a shame as we wod of liked to drink in there more but at 36.00 dollars for 2 wines we decided to move on. All in all a lovely hotel rooms were clean would recommend for location alone

This hotel was located in the "Back Bay" area, perfect walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks, 1-1/2 blocks from Fenway, really a great location. I'd rather stay here then downtown near the Harbor.

Room Tip: We chose a 1 room suite, it was perfect!

Myself, husband & 2 children stayed in a suit in July after coming from new York where our room had been tiny. The room was amazing and large. The location perfect. The kids had what seemed like a whole room to selves with their own tv. The staff were super sweet & kids were given fab travel diary books on arrival to fill in along with another bag of crayons and a colouring book. Cold bottled water was given & offered at front desk whenever entering & exiting the hotel. Fab !

We live in the Boston suburbs, and stayed at the Eliot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is located on the corner of Commonwealth Ave and Mass Ave in Boston - just a 10 minute walk to Fenway Park (we went to a Sox game).

Pros: Absolutely gorgeous room! The room was a suite, with very classic decor, and everything you need to settle in and relax. We had a king sized bed, two night stands, a dresser and a flat screen TV in the bedroom. In the living room, we had a couch, two cozy chairs, another flat screen TV, and a desk and office chair. We also had a separate bar room with a sink, wine glasses, corkscrew, coffee maker and mugs - and the mini bar items were relatively affordable. Then a foyer with a dresser, plus a hall with a nice sized closet, and a lovely bathroom. This hotel has actual keys rather than electronic key cards, which I think is GREAT, as those key cards always seem to deactivate on me. Staff were friendly, and room service food was fast and delicious, and not as expensive as I would have expected. As I mentioned, location was awesome.

Cons: It is pricey - we got a deal on Expedia, and it was still over $450/night including tax. There is only valet parking, and they get you for another $36 there. But for Boston, that's not really over the top. As far as the room, there was no bathtub, which would have been nice, but the shower was great. Also, the curtains wouldn't shut tight, so at 5:45am I had sunlight shining in my face. I rigged it up with something, but blackout curtains would have been good. Other than that, I loved the suite.

All in all, it was just what we wanted for a special occasion, and I would recommend to others looking for an upscale hotel in a great part of the city that has a lot more character than many of the local chains.

We have been coming here for years with our Great Dane. This is the first time we have been here without the dog. Very spacious rooms, Great location( Back Bay). Great service. One block walk to the "T" and a 5 minute walk to the Charles River which is a great location to run or walk. If you drive here it is right off the Tpke and you do not need the car to get around. Restaurants are convenient either within walking distance form the Hotel or by taking the "T" 2 or three stops.

This was our third stay at The Eliot and it was such a joy to be recognised by staff upon our arrival. We would not consider another hotel when visiting Boston - The Eliot offers everything and more that a traveller could want. We were upgraded to a small suite which was a lovely touch and as always, very comfortable beds and pillows - makes such a difference for a good nights sleep! Without exception the staff are friendly and attentive and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Easy walking distance for great shopping, restaurants and culture - it feels like you are just removed from the hustle and bustle of Boston but only one block away. We look forward to our return in the very near future.

Location great - close to Newbury etc for shopping and dining.  Public Garden and Boston Common a 10-15 walk away. Close to river etc.

Rooms very nice - spacious, elegant, clean, quiet. Comfortable beds. Quality linen and towels. Good complimentary wi-fi. We did miss a coffee machine in the room though.

Service - exceptional at every level. Front desk, bell men, housekeeping, all super friendly and accomodating.

We travel with two young children, and we always appreciate when they are welcomed and cared for. The staff at Eliot made them feel very special. Thank you!
