“Great View”
Reviewed November 6, 2006

This hotel has some great reasons to stay......Should the weather be a bit hit or miss this hotel is joined to two great shopping malls.
Ask for the 38th Floor you will get one of the best views ever in Boston. Forget B & B they have starbucks in reception. One of the best sports bars on the ground floor, excellent if you fancy a quick bite before going out or for a night cap when you return. All in all this hotel is in a great location for everywhere in Boston.

My wife and I spent 5 days there Oct.14-19. A great hotel, a bit pricey but no more expensive than any other comparable hotel in Boston, that's just Boston. Great service and assistance from hotel staff. Great location, close to the T, (subway). You can walk to the T in about 8 minutes without ever going outdoors. Starbucks in the lobby, close to the Prudential Bldg. and losts of shopping and food. Located in the Back Bay area, it is a very nice place in a great location which makes it easy to get just about anywhere. My suggestion, do not rent a car in Boston unless you need to travel outside the city. Traffic is horrible, parking is worse and very expensive. The T will get you just about everywhere a tourist would need to go. The Boston Duck tour is also worth the $25 dollars or so for a quick overview of the city. I would stay here again.

  • Tips/Secrets — dont rent a car, take the T (subway)

Probably the nicest Marriott I've stayed in. Rooms and bathrooms are fine, though not terribly large. Comfortable beds. Gym has several treadmills, C2 rower, some Precor cross trainer, essential Cybex equipment. Salt-water pool.

Large lobby with free wifi. Was able to get free wifi connection in my room on 10th floor, probably from nearby apartments. Efficient and helpful staff. Expensive parking. Hotel connects directly to 2 nice but small malls, so there are 2 Au Bon Pains for b'fast, Legal Sea Foods, etc... Well-stocked Shaws with good wine selection across the street.

after a delayed flight from the U.K. and a rather unfriendly "welcome " from a Boston immigration official, this hotel was a welcome sight. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in in any hotel. Breakfast was very good value, and we had the pool to ourselves early in the morning. Very well situated for all the tourist attractions, would definitely reccommend.

My husband and I stayed at this property for one night while in Boston to see a doctor. We called the Marriott 800 number from our car, booked the room, arrived less than 10 minutes later and checked in.

Front desk very helpful. We were given access to the Concierge Floor even though we were not staying on this particular floor. A great added bonus.

Our room was located on the 35th floor with a prime view of the Prudential Center and other buildings. Room was nicely appointed with new bedding. The bed was super comfy and the room was of good size. Bathroom was updated with a rainfall shower and larger size bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash.

The concierge floor is WONDERFUL. The lounge at 3pm when I went in to grab drinks had home made cookies, tea, coffee, and fresh fruit at that time. The selection of complimentary drinks was amazing. Diet pepsi, pepsi, ginger ale, Sierra Mist, bottled water, Red Bull, Snapple Green Iced Tea, and Snapple Diet lemon iced tea. Of course they had the honor bar open as well. When we went up at 6pm they had crab cakes, potato puffs, veggies with dip, crackers and cheese, and a few other things. The best part of that floor was the unbelievable view of the Charles River from the enormous windows. Beautiful. In the evening they were serving brownies, cookies, and truffles. It was a nice touch and more extensive than some of the other Marriott concierge floors in other properties that we have been to.

We ordered room service for dinner and were happy with the food and the price. It wasn't too bad for a hotel in the city. Dinner with salads and soups ran us $60 with a dessert to share. It came within 35 minutes and was better than expected.

There is a Shaws supermarket right directly across the street from this hotel. I ran over there to grab a few items that I had forgotten. If you are looking for snacks or drinks, buy them here and skip the gift shop. It is a very nice market with everything that you could want at a fraction of the price.

This hotel is right at the entrance to the Shops at Copley Place, it is nice to be able to walk out into the mall with all the great shops and then head back to your room.

Finally in the lobby there is a UPS business center that has internet access that costs $5/15 minutes along with other business services.

My only complaint with this hotel is that the hallway on our floor was always dirty - dishes left outside the doors and they remained there for a while. Also, the valet charges $39 a day. I know that parking in Boston is expensive, but that seems a little steep, especially when there is no other option for parking. No self park in the garage or anything. Not a huge deal, but if you are not expecting it, then it can be a surprise.

All in all, I would definitely stay here again. This was not my first time here and it won't be my last. Have fun and request one of the top floors for the best view.

  • Liked — Concierge floor and the comfy bed
  • Disliked — The valet fee
  • Tips/Secrets — If you need anything head to the Shaw's across the street.

Stayed here for a conference. Got a discount because of it. Room was clean but smaller than I expected. Good central location and lots of shopping nearby. A pain to get into the elevator when lots of people waiting for it. Front desk refunded me days for internet I didn't use with no problems.

Quick one night stay at the Copley Marriott. It's a conference center hotel, but we were there to celebrate our anniversary. The location is very convenient to the Boston Convention center -- and is in the heart of Back Bay. Our room wasn't spacious, but it is a city hotel. The new Marriott beds and linens are very comfortable. Concierge was very helpful in selecting a restaurant for dinner. Would recommend again - although if you're coming to Boston as a tourist I would recommend staying at the Long Wharf or Customs House instead as you'll be closer to the water and many of the tourist attractions the city has to offer.
