“Great Hotel Convenient for Red Sox games.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2009

We stayed at this hotel as part of a travel package, to see the Red Sox play at Fenway. We enjoyed the entire trip, thank you Red Sox Destinations! The hotel staff was accomodating. The housekeeping staff deserve big tips - they keep the hotel very clean. Bathroom was fairly modern and super clean. Loved the soft bedding - but could've used another regular pillow (each bed had two regular pillows and two pillows that you might use to prop up in bed). We ate at Champions in the lobby twice - food was delicious even though the service was a little slow (just not enough servers I think)
The view from the hotel rooms is great. Elevators are FAST so it took no time at all to get up 31 floors!! If you are young (or young at heart) I recommend the Duck Tour, right across the street. We had lots of fun. Quack! The hotel was close to the subway which is really a great deal if you buy a weeklong ticket. Can't wait to go back some day.

This is a big box of a hotel, no surprise there. In three days, I had nothing bad happen. The location is terrific for leisure and business travelers alike. In addition to scores of stores within a 50-yard radius (most accessible without setting foot outside), the on-site Starbucks made an unbelievably good cup of coffee--and this is from a dyed-in-the-wool Sbucks fan. Of particular import for business travelers (and I assume leisure travelers), there's a huge, full-service Shaws grocery store right across the street. For watching your waistline or your budget (or both), this is a huge plus. There's a renovation project that makes getting around floors 2-4 a little complicated, but that's not a big deal. The room is standard Marriott--not great, certainly not bad. I'm always amused when travelers complain about high hotel parking costs, especially in a major city. Note to self: DON'T DRIVE or find an adjacent lot. Much has been made of the hotel's gym. For a hotel, it is superb, filled with weights and cardio machines in addition to a pool. I personally wouldn't pay $18 to workout there, but as a Hilton Diamond dude, it was comped.

Anyway, the real purpose of my review is to publicly commend the housekeeping staff. I left a straightening iron in the bathroom upon checking out, and didn't realize it for 24 hours. I called and left a voicemail with housekeeping on a Saturday. I called again on Monday and while placed on hold, someone actually contacted housekeeping. They called back to confirm having the iron and then left two follow-up messages to confirm that they had my home address and would ship it back. Imagine my surprise to get it the next day via overnight mail. All in all, well done.

I booked hotel through Priceline for a great rate and was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews here but it was just what we needed for a room to sleep in while visiting family. Its a big hotel, upside is we were on a high floor and had a great view all the way down the south shore. The fitness center renovations have been completed and its a great room with windows and lots of brand new equipment. About as good as hotels get for this. We didnt use hotel restaurants, lots of food court options in the mall lfor breakfast, good buffet at Au Bon Pain.l. Valet was pricey at $42 but thats standard for Boston and the service and timing was very good.
First room they gave us smelled a bit musty and then immediately switched to us to a similar one which was just fine. Room had 42 inch LCD TV with lots of free high def channels (needed to call front desk to figure out how to get free tv on the remote). Bedding and beds were excellent and a step up from Courtyards. Definately would stay here again if I got a good rate.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at this property.
The first time I was not immpressed at all, and in a years time not much has changed.
The Hotel's location is superb, easy to walk around, great places to eat and shop near-by.
The bad news is, the hotel has unhappy staff, and it's apparent in almost anything you ask for. Also the elevators still are very slow -which is surprising considering the number of them to serve guests. The rooms have been updated but still remain a bit haggered. The 2nd floor is currently under renovation and is going to be the new lobby, it will help create a more up-to-date feel. Because there is so much close by I never ate at the Champs in the hotel. I did stay on the concierge level this time, and the lounge did supply breakfast -but again the staff seemed to be doing it under orders. They were not a friendly bunch. Also the food selections never changed as they have in other hotels, every morning it was the same and every evening it was too.
I didn't think I would stay here again, but I did. It is mediocre, except for the location -which is very nice.
One other thing I found disagreeable was the $12 something charge for internet and then that get's taxed! The internet is charged from noon to noon regardless of when you actually sign into it, seems like a rip-off and considering what you might already be paying, it seems wrong.

Not a bad stay -- simply a typical Marriott experience -- nothing overwhelming about the experience. The hotel's location is one of its strong points, Back Bay, connected to Copley Place, Prudential Center's Marketplace and the Hynes Convention Center. I was there during a cold spell (2 degrees outside) so it was nice not having to walk outside to get places.

The room was decent - fairly modern decor with comfortable beds. The hotel, I believe, is or will be, undergoing a room renovation. It needs it, as my room on the 28th floor had a big nasty yellow stain on one of the walls.

This hotel has a discriminating staff.. If you are booking from price line they give you an attitude off bat.. the feel like you don't belong there because you did not pay full price... And if you are a minority every one will look at you strange.. The rooms are nice but the staff that you have to deal with in order to get it.. Makes the room not worth it.. I have stayed at allot of hotels but that hotel by far is the worst and they don't care.. So if i was to rate this hotel i would rate it STAY AWAY if you are a minority or you will end up at the local discrimination office.. I HAVE NEVER LEFT A HOTEL FEELING DISRESPECTED... Good luck with trying to get a staff with a non-bias opion of you!..

It is in the copley mall so it is very upscale... Has nice shops as far a Louis Vuttion, Salvotor Farragamo, and Saks Fifth just to name a few.. There is a cafeteria in the mall, and it has GOOD FOOD. The hotel food is gross the buffalo wing are to spicy.. and the "dominos" pizza is gross soggy undercooked and pilled with nasty cheese and to expensive for that and a drink almost plus 4% + 18% +4.00+ gratuity almost 60 $.. And also the don't do free internet 12.95$ this hotel is over priced with a Unorganized staff.. If you get a hotel here make sure you don't get it threw a bargain site...

If you want to save money don't book here. They put a barley visual sing in your room saying "no smoking" and then they charge you 250$ For not telling you.. But you want to save money when you go to that hotel just don't get room service.. And not let remind you about the 20$ tip you like have to give to house keeping.. If you are on a budget and you want good hotel service.. There are other hotels in the area that are more put together and way more cheaper then the Marriot.. There is a Shaws across the street but the hotel staff will look at you even more weird if they see you bringing out side food in there hotel...

They have poor staff so the will try to make up for it in other way buy over charging you.. I payed for room service for a pizza and buffalo wing and it almost came up to 60$(and it was horrible).. There where no amenities i want to spa.. But could not because there was nothing available ... Ps: if you are scared of elevators DON'T Go.. There elevators open while still moving..

So in the end if you go there don't touch anything it will cost !!!!

All together my trip at the Marriot costed me 700$.. So take what i am saying into consideration when booking!

we got a great corner room, with breathtaking views of the river and the city!!! 2 walls were complete glass.. amazing! The bed was the best feature of the room.. the pillows, the duvet cover were so so soft and the mattress was just the best!! We stayed 2 nights and loved every minute of the stay!! The hotel is located centrally so we managed to walk everywhere!! Brilliant restaurants around the area and connected to shopping centre.. just amazing for first timers in Boston!
