We had a room on the 23rd floor facing I think east (toward the airport area). The room was very clean and the bed and pillows were fantastic, extremely soft and relaxing to sleep in. The location was terrific, as well, in the Back Bay just a couple blocks away from the public library and Trinity Church, or down a slightly different direction right to Boylston street where there are plenty of places to shop and eat. Fenway Park is also walkable. The wifi is pretty good but $16.95 a day for the "enhanced" high-bandwidth wifi, or $12.95 for the normal stuff. The bar/restaurant downstairs, Champions, does a pretty good business and has about as many televisions up on the wall as there are stations.

On the negative side, the walls are very thin, you can hear the next door neighbors quite easily. Also on the TV there are not all that many HD channels despite it being an HDTV, so CNN and Fox, etc., all look washed-out. We were there during a conference for my wife and many people complained about having to wait for the elevators a lot. I had no trouble, so it may be that they were using them at peak times.

This hotel is in a great location if you are in Boston for either business or pleasure. The "T" is literally in the building and it is convenient to a high end mall (also within the building). It is roughly halfway between Fenway and Faneuil Hall. It is also close to Newbury Street for great shopping and dining.

Checkin was a breeze, and the staff is friendly. For Marriott Gold and higher, the concierge club is not open on the weekend, but they give you bonus points as compensation for the "inconvenience".

Stayed for 3 nights leisure after a business trip in another Marriott property. As a solo traveller I was happy with the "mall" kind of atmosphere, and loved the central location. I had a room on the 30th floor with nice river and city views. Room size, beds, bathroom and cleanliness great. Room safe did not work. Had no major issues with the elevators described as extremely slow. The most annoying part was the wifi - only complimentary in the freezingly cold lobby with dozens of people sitting there with tablets and laptops. I don't get it about this paid hotel wifi in the 21st century, even a local grocery store offers a free connection.

There was also confusion every morning at breakfast. Apparently staff is not well briefed on guests with complimentary breakfast included in the hotel rate. Every morning I mentioned I had free breakfast included and every time they showed up with a $22 bill. Luckily it was not included in the final hotel bill, but a German couple next to me at breakfast had to argue on the breakfasts showing on the hotel bill.

I would stay here again if Marriott would stop the wifi rip off.

Room Tip: Higher rooms = better views.

Stayed four nights at this hotel beginning of September. Check in was very quick the staff were friendly and very helpful, we had a room on the 22nd floor with a great view of the city. Room was spacious and very clean the bed was the most comfortable we have found in any hotel. Very well situated for central Boston and dining options with access to shopping mall over walk way on 2nd floor. Another plus was the trolley tour stop was situated just outside the hotel which was convenient for jumping on the tour bus. Also there was the facility to confirm flights and print off boarding cards prior to going to the airport. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Boston as it is centrally located and a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor with a view of the city

Looking for an alternative to the Colonnade near the Back Bay AMTRAK station, I figured I would give this Marriott a shot. Ugh. Start with the two-story lobby whose second level is the entrance/exit to a shopping mall, the echoing noise from the upstairs sports bar and the general hard surfaces and ricocheting sounds and you have a large, unimpressive Marriott. At least it wasn't that expensive compared to the surrounding options. The room was adequate but hardly fancy (again, pretty typical Marriott) though I have to say I felt better safe inside my room than out in the din that passes for a hotel lobby and dining area. I guess, with good restaurants nearby you just aren't going to go all out on an in-house eatery. I will say the salad from the sports bar was good enough if you're hungry, tired and need something quick. Otherwise, I'd head out into greater Boston.
I doubt I'll stay here again unless under duress.

Room Tip: Though I didn't see it, there is a club floor available and that might be better.

Stayed 3 nights here. Centrally located and was on the trolley tour stop, so convenient that way if you ended up further out from hotel and wanted to get back to the hotel. We bought the tour so there were stops along the Freedom Trail and when tired, you could get back to the hotel via trolley. The tour person was very friendly and helpful in finding things to do while the hotel concierge was not friendly, nor great assistance. It was close enough to the Sox ballpark that you could walk (we took trolley there to the night game and walked back because the subways were so crowded). Rooms were clean and adequately sized. Housekeeping was very good to attend to personal requests. Elevators were horrid - they are apparently working on them, but the waits were long. The one restaurant was fine (nice sports bar), but would've liked 24-hr room service or more choices for dining, although there are a gazillion places to eat close by. Front desk was friendly - gift shop cashier was not. Cab assistance was friendly and efficient and so were the bell desk people. Would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room faced Huntington and was high enough (16) to have a view of part of the city - was not nois...

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful hotel for a quick getaway and were very happy with everything. We were in Boston for the Red Sox -Yankee game and this location allowed us to have an easy 10 minute walk to and from Fenway Park. The location is also perfect for lots of shopping as well as a great variety of dining options. The check-in process, was quick and efficient and the suite we had was on the top floor with a beautiful view of the city. We enjoyed the bountiful breakfast buffet prior to leaving, lots of choices and delicious! It was a perfect weekend (including the Red Sox win!!!) and we will plan to stay at this terrific hotel again whenever our travels bring us back to Boston. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Boston as the location can't be beat.
