“Huge impersonal hotel”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

This is a very large hotel, ideal for conferences, and air crew. Not ideal for an independent tourist visiting Boston for the first time. Great location and easy for shopping and excellent restaurants. I would recommend a smaller hotel nearer the edge of the park if there is one. Reading another review which mentions the lack of hair conditioner and shower gel. I asked our maid for some and said she would have to check with her manager? Are these not essential items which should be in the bathroom of a 4/5 star hotel?

Room Tip: The choice is immense.

Very nice, but busy, hotel. Connected via skywalk to malls and located near many restaurants and shops. Walking distance to Newbury Street. The rooms were well appointed and the bathroom was very large.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting our daughter who attends Boston College. One day we wanted to shop and he wanted to watch a football game. The game was not on the channels in our room, but was on in the lobby/bar area. They would not let my husband sit and watch the game. They said only guests ordering meals were allowed - even though we were guests of the hotel. It was 4 in the afternoon and there were not many people in the bar area. We were all disappointed in that kind of service.

My family of 4 spent two nights here on a last minute whim to escape the wrath of Hurricane Sandy back home in New York. The rooms and hotel seems updated and/ or very well kept. the carpets in the hallways and rooms looked brand new and the furnishings were nice and in excellent condition. Comfy bed too! Marriott tends to be our go to mass market hotel chain and we are usually very satisfied. The breakfast buffet was very good in terms of variety and quality also. The location was perfect for touring Boston and shopping and dining at the adjacent mall. We had planned to stay a third night but headed home a day early when we learned our electricity at home was back on. Canceling our last night was no problem, with no penalty. Staff was courteous and efficient. Would definitely return.

This is the second time staying since the first time was great. Shorter one night stay this time vs. four nights last time. Check in and out not a problem. Although a minor detail was I didn't have any hotel conditioner. I know I could have called down for some but should I really have to? Anytime I stay at a hotel that is $300 per night I expect all the small details handled. Otherwise the pool and gym were nice, but pool could be heated. Great to be attached to the mall for easy indoor access to shopping and public train. Last trip we didn't rent a car and came straight from the airport to the mall and hotel. We did all the downtown tourist things and got back on the train to the airport. This time I rented a car and paid $35 to self park. (Valet was $46) The garage was not the easiest to navigate and I had a midsize car.
Their restaurant (Champions?) leaves a lot to be desired. Did not like it our last visit and was underwhelmed this visit. Will not go back a third time. First time they took over 40 min to bring our food and the restaurant was empty at 4pm. My wife and son needed to get out to Fenway and had to leave before the food got there. It is a sports bar and all we ordered were appetizer finger foods. Fast forward to this visit and my daughter and I got arrived at 4 pm. Food arrived on time, her pulled pork was "ok" and my fish and chips were over battered and over cooked. Surprising for being associated with this level of hotel. But if you wanted to hang out at a bar and have drinks, watch TV and socialize with people dressed in business casual or better, then this would be the place for it. Don't go there for the food. You're better off going to the food court in the mall.
Booked another night at the hotel for January 2013 already and will review again. I stick with quality and consistency.

Went to Boston for the 1st time to do an Executive Education program at Harvard Business Scool where we stayed on campus then decided to spend 3 extra days in Boston and stay at this hotel. Great location, walking distance to Boston Library and shopping precinct. Also very close to the Boston museum. The hotel is attached to the Shopping Centre which gives you added advantage of shopping and great breakfasts in the Cafes. Reception staff was friendly although seemed less experienced. Concierge was helpful and guided me well.

I love the location, fairly central. I've walked all over from here (Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, etc) - this hotel is priced exactly like you;d expect in a big city. Stayed here multiple times and always happy...very convenient to the malls and the shopping on Newbury Street...

The hotel was great in terms of convenience to everything related to the convention center. The rooms are fairly clean but the temperature control is very spotty. Hotel food (for a conference) was only fair.
