For me a magical place to loose my time. I really like the smell of old books, something very happy occurs inside me. I also find one piece for my collection, wonderful! Maybe the best books shop in the world

This shop is on a little side street, out of the way of traffic. All of the books were amazing. I enjoyed browsing the shelves outside. Be sure to check out the third floor, that is where they keep the rare books. Great place for a great find.

Brattle Books bills itself as one of America's oldest antiquarian booksellers. If you're a collector, head straight for the third floor. I wasted some time poking around on the second floor before discovering the rare book room, and let's just say I think both they and I were happy that I did. I bought several large, heavy pieces which they were happy to ship back to my home so I didn't have to try to lug them on the plane. The people working there were friendly and helpful, yet not pushy. For those with only a little to spend, there are abundant shelves outside (protected from the weather) hosting inexpensive reads, some of which are in like-new condition. It's a bit off the beaten track on a side street near Boston Commons, but go a little out of your way to check it out.
