Owner description: This National Park consists of 34 small islands just off shore in Boston Harbor. The most popular, George's Island, is home to Fort Warren, a Civil War Landmark that housed Confederate prisoners. Visitors to the 12 islands open for exploration can camp, kayak, tour lighthouses, ride harbor ferries, hike and swim.

If you are looking for a new place to take out of town guests, try the harbor islands! tickets are available online http://www.bostonharborislands.org/
if you can tour the oldest lite house in America (boston lite) tickets are 40.00 for a 3 hour tour, and are limited for some dates.
Other islands that are well worth the visit are Spectacle and Georges island. tickets are 40.00 for a family of 4. and lovely area that few people see! on the islands you can swim. fish, eat etc.
go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and look carefully at the schedules as boats arrive at islands once every few hours so if you have to rush back you might not make it.
over all a great place to take guests who have seen many of the sites of Boston!

What a lovely way to spend the day. Bring a picnic and plan to go to the top. Our group of 4 adults and 4 children (ages 8-14) LOVED this - we are all still talking about it.

Before I retired, I had the opportunity to inspect the camp grounds located on the Islands every year. You get an amazing view of Boston from the islands. One Island has a wonderful Fort to visit, one island has lots colorful rabbits hopping around. If you are into history, nature, or just seeing Boston from a diferent vantage point, you will love the islands .
