“Great Zoo”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

My son is a huge animal lover and has been to almost every zoo in New England multiple times. However, the Franklin Park Zoo has his favorite animal (the giant anteater). I went here last year for the first time in more than 20 years. I had heard some horror stories in recent years but they were all unfounded. I was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend packing a lunch and sitting at one of the many picnic tables.

“Decent urban zoo”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Modest collection of animals in somewhat dated enclosures. But it is a nice walk in the park, and there are some nice rides for kids.

Surpriisingly good zoo in the heart of Boston. Hard to believe that it is here. Variety and offerings are good and interesting. Especially entertaining for young children and kids at heart.

“New playground at the Zoo!”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

We have always enjoyed the Franklin Park Zoo. We purchase the family membership and it is a great value. The butterfly house is so beautiful. The gorilla exhibit tends to make me sad (not a fan of animals in captivity to begin with) but the animals were all born in zoos so hopefully they are clueless. And watching the momma with her baby is quite an experience. Last year the zoo installed an AMAZING playground. It is worth the price of admission itself. My son never wants to leave the space. It is a blast.
Food concessions are quite good and won't break your budget.

“Good zoo, but hard to get to”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Good Zoo, but difficult for people to get to , especially those out of town who don't know Boston. Some roads to the zoo go through some unsafe areas in town. There are some bus routes that go to the Zoo. But mostly you have to drive. Zoo is great though and worth the trip. Just don't count on road signs , signage directing you to the zoo. Boston doesn't believe in directional signage. You're on your own there. Enjoy the Zoo though and Franklin park after or swing by Arnold Arboretum for a hike.
