“Terrific exhibits... will be back to see more”

My mother and I had about 2 hours to spend before leaving Boston and decided to visit the museum and we are very glad we did. We saw several of the permanent exhibits, including three fabulous collections of musical instruments, jewelry and model ships. We also caught several changing exhibits, including one of the British Royal Family and another on paintings from the White Mountains.

What I liked about this museum is that there is enough printed detail for each piece that you can go through without an audio guide (but they do have a guide - probably good if you have several hours to explore). Also, there was a wide variety of art, so there is something for everyone. We only covered about 1/3 of the museum in the 2 hours, and we went a little quickly. With how many changing exhibits, I plan on going back frequently now that I am moving to Boston.

“a great art experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

The only disadvantage is that it's so big it's hard to pick what to see in one day. Do not miss the European masters. Unfortunately I did not have enough energy to go through the American section - I had seen it years ago, but one does forget! Lovely new restaurant with a creative menu.

“Must see in Boston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

The new American wing is perhaps one of the most beautifully presented, carefully arranged museum experiences in the world. Furniture is placed beside art is placed beside porcelain: all of the same era. Going there is a most Bostonian and American experience. It touches upon history, art, society, class, and more. A great experience.

“have to go more than once”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

Certainly a world-recognized art museum, with great exhibition. If you are students in boston you would probably get free entrance (not sure whether it's for all schools in boston). When I went, there was a photograph exhibition of Ori Gersht whose work I absolutely love!!! so inspiring and you see so much through his photos! well the exhibition is not on any more, but those who are interested should definitely google his work. amazing. the museum website also has videos and pictures and so on.

“Wow”

Great museum. Take one of the tours, it adds so much. Enjoyed every moment. Allow at least one full day, even two days is not enough.
