Owner description: At the USS Constitution Museum you don't just learn about history, you EXPERIENCE it! Furl a a sail, fire a cannon, and scrub the decks to learn what life was like at sea over 200 years ago. Fun for all ages, admission is simply by donation! Located across from the ship in the historic Boston National Park, Charlestown Navy Yard. Open Daily. The Museum is private non-profit Museum and is operated separately from USS Constitution (the Ship).

The museum was very interesting especially the life of a sailor on the Constitution. My boys are aged 5 and 11 and exhibit kept them interested which is unusual. I have only given this 3 stars as to visit the ship itself you need to have photo ID on you and our passports were left at the hotel. This wasn't mentioned in any of the guide books but as a working ship and still part of US Navy, ID was necessary.

“Hands on history lesson.”

To visit this ship is wonderfully enlightening about the life of a sailor in the 19th century. Imagine sailing for months on such a cramped vessel.

Have to stop here while on the Freedom Trail. Magnificent vessel with an unparalleled history. Very informative tour. I bought a flag on board and was able to raise it with the help of a sailor then lower and properly fold it. Really cool for a history nerd.

Bring your visit to the ship into perspective with a visit to the Museum - together they complement one another quite well. The combined experience is like bringing history to life. Hard to say which to do first but either way will be informative and enjoyable. If you go visit the ship be sure to not miss this additional aspect.

“Wonderful ship”

Complete access to the ship and the crew was great. I bought a flag which my grandson then got to raise over the ship which was very memorable.
