Visiting the USS Constitution was a unique experience. I was pleased that this was not just another guided tour but a museum we could walk around on our own. I will admit it was under the eyes of naval personnel. Below decks got a bit small, there were a few times when I bumped my head. Made me think about life on board back then. Well worth the visit.

We went on a day that the ship was closed, so we did not toured it. The museum next to it was quite interesting with movies and lots of pictures and toys to interact with others.

The USS Constitution Museum is on the Freedom Trail in Boston. It's accessible by walk or one can buy a pass for one of the tourist buses. Learn about the beautiful story how it took a whole town to build the Old Ironsides and how it has served the USA for several decades.

The highlight of the museum is the granite dry dock and the first vessel that entered the Dry Dock 1 for repairs was USS Constitution. Now, the Dry Dock is preserved as an Engineering Landmark.

A must see if you are in Boston. Also know as Old Ironsides, it is the oldest ship in the Boston Harbour.

We did the museum the same day as the ship. they are in the same lot. I loved the museum but disliked that it says free but donations encouraged. It isn't really encouraged as much as it seems pushed on you with a desk guy saying its customary to pay $10 per person. I decided based on this to do $5 per person. I would recommend depositing your "donation" in one of their donation slots instead of going to the desk and then go to the desk for a site map.

This museum is walking distance of the Navy's Old Ironsides(USS Constitution). The museum is set up well. You can start the tour with a video if you like. The museum takes you through conditions and even the process to become a crew member at the time. There is lots of information provided, if you just take the time to read it. Several hands on learning for the children as well. Be sure to watch for the 'goat'!!
The gift shop has a lot of books and other fine souvineers!

This museum is a real great museum which gives an excellent presentation about the USS Constitution. It presents the history of the ship from its origins to the current state and everything in between. The museum is interactive and uses all sorts of media extremely well. It not only is appropriate for children, it also is very well suited for adults. You can learn about the glorious history of the Constitution and its legendary battles with the British Navy and the interesting 200-year history of the ship that is still considered part of the US Navy. Learn about how the sailors lived on board and you can even learn how to shoot a cannon. It gives great insight into how sailors lived and survived on board ship. Great museum.

When going to see the USS Constitution, go through the Museum first and read all the interesting details of the ship and harbor area. You have to go through a medal detector so make sure you have no sharp objects on you. :)
