We really enjoyed seeing Old Ironsides. We took the water taxi over from the Boston waterfront - great trip over. The guides really knew their history of the ship and answered every question. It was really fun going onboard and seeing everything up close and in person.

The oldest active duty ship in the US Navy, we were able to board and explore it. Wow! I am glad I wasn't in the navy then! It is really small inside. We needed to go through a security check point (active duty ship) but that wasn't a big deal. I am really glad that we stopped here to visit this bit of American history.

The USS Constitution is a great place to go and is on the Freedom Trail. The museum is not is interesting as the boat itself. On the boat you can check out a lot of different stories from the deck to the hammocks.

There isn't anything like this ship anywhere in the US. We moved here from California and whenever we have guests who have never been to Boston, this is always one of our first tourist stops. The fact that it's kept seaworthy at all times is probably one of the most interesting things about this floating time capsule.

The lines can get very long to take the tour which is free. Be patient unless tourist sites are not your thing, in which case you should move along to something else.

What's inside? I don't want to spoil it, but you will be greeted by U.S. Navy servicemen who give you a history of the ship, and a real sense of what life was like on the water for those serving on the ship during war time.

My sweetie is in the Canadian military so this was a must for us. This was one of my favourite stops. We climbed aboard the U.S.S. Constitution and were transported back in time. Ladies - here's a tip- if you want to be free and clear to climb up and down the ladders - don't wear a dress like I did! LOL.
