We had some time to kill and didn't think originally to visit the library. But, we were standing near the library, heard somewhere along the day they have guided tours so we thought why not?

The tour is free of charge, just go inside and wait for the next tour to begin. There are leaflets that explains some things about the library, quite informative and interesting if you have enough time before the tour.

The tour itself takes you through the different halls of the library, explaining about the structure and decoration, the reason it was built, the reason it is free, the reason why the specific people who were chosen to build it where chosen.

This is not a very exciting tour, but it is a very nice place to visit, even not just to kill time :-)

Take a break from shopping at the high end chain shops on Newbury and go for a walk through this library. A great experience.

Take a tour of this historic building or have lunch in the cafe or just relax in the courtyard next to the fountain. From the Sargent murals to the statue of the beheaded founding father at the entrance to the reading room. You will love it.

Even if you do not like to read, the library offers so much more. I could easily stay for several hours looking at the art work and old books. The architecture is lovely and the quiet atmosphere is conducive for reading or research. The library is conveniently located at Copley Square and is easily access by subway or bus. Parking is a premium in Boston, so take public transit. Plenty of restaurants and other attractions are nearby.

My granddaughter walked the halls of the library. There was so much to see. We ended our visit in the cafe for lunch. The food was delicious.
