There are many areas to explore and have a nice, relaxing day in the middle of Boston. Shaded area, places to play with the family and kids, vendors on the side of the road, and the swan boats of course (for a small fee)

We grabbed lunch at the nearby Falafel King and ate on the ground in the Commons two days in a row before jumping on our trolley. If you think ahead, toss a small blanket or sheet in your backpack so you won't have to sit directly on the ground as there really are no benches.

Boston Common is the park is the middle of the city. Parking garage is adjacent. It is best to visit on a weekend when traffic is much less than weekdays. Kids can feed the ducks or take a ride on the swan boats. You can also begin the walk along the Freedom Trail just to the north of Boston Common.

We stayed at the Boston Park Plaza so we walked through this park several times. It is a lovely space with nice paved trails to walk on and lots of park benches if you want to take a nap. My only complaint is that it was always very busy with people playing sports or just walking/running quickly. Nice spot to sit and watch the world go by.

Always a great place to visit come sunshine or snow. In the summer the swan boats are just adorable, but in the autumn the leaves are so pretty and the squirrels so tame. When there is snow in the ground, it also very picturesque. Within walking distance of shops of quince market, don't forget the State house, well worth looking in side
