An historic and peaceful site. You can feel colonial Boston when walking the Common.I love the history of the location.

Come to run, people watch, picnic. You can't go wrong here. Okay, maybe don't picnic in December, but you can feel the history here. It doesn't hurt that it is gorgeous. Try to avoid having a car. There are several MBTA stops nearby. If you do need to park, there is adequate (but pricey) parking under the Common.

Several lines of the "T" take you directly to Boston Common. It was a great place to just hang out on a summer day--especially for people watching--and there were some pretty entertaining street performers in the park as well. But for me, THE reason to visit Boston Common was to pay homage to the Augustus Saint-Gaudens monument to Civil War hero Col. Robert Gould Shaw and the men of his 54th Massachusetts Infantry regiment. Seeing that was almost a religious experience for me.

It is always good to get to the common and walk around/take in the views and people watch.park street or boylston t-stop gets you right in the action.
It is pretty big and nice to wallk around or thru with places to eat/shop all around you. Check it out while in boston for sure....also short walk to quincy market or downtown crossing.
