Owner description: The red line on the sidewalk leads you on this 2.5-mile, self-guided tour of American Revolution sites. It starts at the Boston Common, America's oldest public park, and ends at the famed Bunker Hill Monument.

My mother and I spent two days in Boston before our New England motor coach tour. We enjoyed following the red line (sometimes bricks, sometimes paint) along the sidewalk as we learned more about the history of our country.

We didn't walk too far (Mom is almost 90!) but the Freedom Trail was a memorable part of our visit to Boston.

A plus....the trail ran right along side our hote (Omni Parker House) so it was easy to find our way back home!

We did the tours... walking by oneself is not as good as doign a tour. We took the tour both down past Sammy Adams grave as well as up to learn we didn't really battle where we tought in grade school.

Great and very educational -- and fun for the entire family! Bring a good pair of sneakers or walking shoes...and jackets if you go in the cooler weather.

Boston is so great with how it set up the trail. Easy to acess, well marked and a true historical experience. Loved it !!

We enjoyed the walk along the Freedom Trail in Boston. Don't pay for a guided tour because they don't go the whole trail and you can do it on your own and with the free park services. We had no trouble following the red bricks along and just used a $3 guidebook to know what was coming up next. You've got to be in pretty good shape to climb up the monument on Bunker Hill, however. You can start the walk at the Boston Common and then catch the "T" back to where you started. It was well worth it.
