Scampo's is one of my old reliables. Although usually crowded (reservations are a near must most of the time), I do client dinners here all the time, but the tables are sufficiently set apart that conversations work fine. When I'm alone I often sit at the counter.
I have always had great service, there is a wine list for almost all budgets, and I've never had a bad dish. The mozzarella bar (just a section on the menu) is fantastic although be prepared -- there's not much cheese on the otherwise somewhat pricey plates. However, they combine lots of stuff in each of the mozzarella plates that just go together great -- almost a meal, so I often just get a appetizer past for my entree.
