Owner description: This Italian neighborhood, Boston's oldest, is known for its wonderful restaurants and historic sights. Walk the cobblestone streets to take in the architecture and aromas of delicious food, and visit Paul Revere's house and the Old North Church while you're in the neighborhood.

Indeed, the main street of this area is overrun by the cliched restaurants targeted for the tourist crowd, but many of them serve very nice food. A bit overpriced, but convenient to have them so close together so you have opportunity to choose what you want. Well worth a visit and to enjoy going down a few side streets; there are a couple of boutique shops but not as many as were there in the past. See the Old North Church, Paul Revere statue, and visit here for the cannoli's or other desserts.

The North End is usually a stop on list of places when I'm in town. A great place for romance, shopping, food, fun and entertainment. If you didn't stop here, you really haven't seen Boston. Also, don't stick with traditional places that all the tourists go on Hanover Street.

While, Mike's Pastry is good, it's mostly popular with tourist and college kids new to the city. I'd go to Modern Pastry or Maria's on Cross St. I'd argue that it's better. Yes, Pizza Regina is good, but it's not worth waiting in line to get in the North End when you get it in North Station. It's the same pie. I'd say take a trip to Santarpio's instead closer to Logan Airport. Salumeria Italiana is a stop you want regret if you want to experience the closest thing to a genuine Italian meat and cheese shop.

Antico Forno, Massimo's, and Ristorante Fiore (only restaurant with a sweet roofdeck in the warmer months) are excellent choices.

Highlights were: Bacca (the oxtail polenta) and another small restaurant with squid ink pasta. Amazing!

We found this restaurant by accident last summer and decided to come back next time in town. We were greeted with a huge smile by the owner. We had the Pomodoro e Mozzarella and the Bruschetta for our appetizer and both were fresh and delicious. We had 3 differnt entrees, from the Pollo alla Parmagiana, Pollo Verdicchio and homemade lasagna. Everyone bite was a taste of heaven. Our waiter was very attentive and always checked on our table. Can't wait to go back again!!!

Def stop by and walk the streets. The business offerings are a bit repetitive (Italian restaurants and cafes), but the area has a lot of character.
