Owner description: This striking I.M. Pei edifice, famous for its beauty and infamous for falling glass panes, is Boston's tallest building. After terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the popular 60th-floor observatory was permanently closed due to security concerns.

“John Hancock Observatory & Bar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

As it was a girls weekend we decided to go to the observatory bar to get a look at the magnificent views (which they were) and have a cocktail while we were there. It was a lovely place to relax on the 96th floor in lovely surroundings. We had a great booth and you could be as near or as far from the window as you liked. Very pleasant staff. We had appetisers and cocktails. Just be careful because if you are going in groups of over 6 as a hefty 20% (non negotiable) service charge goes on as well as the tax.

“See your reflection!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

It's hard to miss the John Hancock Tower as it's one of the two tallest buildings in the city. It's fun to stand outside and watch your reflection in the glass, and see Trinity Church in the reflection as well. There's a small cafe on the South side of the tower inside that you can grab coffee. If you know someone who works in the building, get them to take you up to their office if it's a high floor - great view of the city! The most spectacular thing about the JHT though is watching it turn different colors throughout the day as the sun reflects off the clouds.

“Top of the Hub”

We actually prefer this to the Hancock. The restaurant is VERY good, but of course pricy. Sometimes we go up and just have a drink and take in the city.

“Great view of Boston”

There is no other building that offers quite the same view, but the Top of the HuB in the Prudential Center could be its equal.
