“Great food and atmosphere in the heart of the North End”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

A friend recommended this restaurant as his favorite in the North End - and I'm so glad he did. The variety was wonderful, the service was friendly and relaxed, even though it was a busy Saturday night, and the food was excellent. We had the Carpaccio and Salad Limone for appetizers. We enjoyed Lobster Risotto and a pasta bolognese for our entrees. I have visited Italy twice, and as an Italian American have had more than my share of Italian food. While dining here, I felt like I was back in Italy and can't wait to come back.

“surprise surprise”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

We had plans to dine at another neighborhood restaurant on teh sunday night of Labor day weekend. unfortunately there was a 45 minute wait, so we tried Vinoteca di Monica. I have to say that out of teh whole it experience it was a pleasant surprise. The wine list was extensive and affordable. The menu had more than enough choices, although most of it pasta (house-made). Not very many non-pasta choices though. I shared the wild mushroom crepe for an appetizer and it was divine. for dinner I orderd the linguine with mixed shellfish in a plum tomato sauce. the fish was great - the sauce pretty bland. Another in our party ordered the Veal chop and it was excellent, as was the lobster fra diavolo.
Even the desserts were delicious. The only reason I won't give it 5 starts is because the waiter was not very pleasant. next time, I'll ask for another server.

“Great italian food with a neighborhood feel.”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Enjoyed dinner at Monica's on Saturday night. Got there early which was good since the North End was very crowded as we left. We split a Caesar Salad, then moved onto grilled salmon with a risotto cake on a bed of veggies, and a pasta dish made with prosciutto and peas. All really really good! Had not been there in many years, but will make it a regular stop again.

“Amazing find on Boston's North End”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

I went here with 4 other people and absolutely loved the food! The handmade pasta was delicious, the seafood was fresh and came in a large portion, and the sauces were flavorful. The fish stew came with little liquid but had half a lobster, 6+ clams, shrimp, calamari, and more. I would recommend the fried cucumber flowers as a great appetizer. Prepare yourself to spend around $40-50 per person if you are doing 3 courses (20-30 per entree) but the food and atmosphere are well worth the price.

“Still Awesome”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

We went there years ago and thought it was good, and last night's experience was terrific as well. We took a group of clients and the service was wonderful and accommodating when we showed up with one more person. Great wine recommendations from our server. The starters, veal, arugula bruschetta, fried calamari, and the special anti-pasta plate were all wonderful. Everyone liked the pasta entrees: lobster risotto (special), angel hair with shrimp (red and white sauces both good), black pasta with scallops that came with julienne vegetables was outstanding. Food is very rich, and apps + pasta were enough, we did not have room for entrees or desserts. We will return to enjoy those!
