First, drive up a shaded, steep mountain road- with plenty of idyllic scenery even just on that drive up. Then, reach your awesome destination (caution, your GPS may goof due to altitude or something). Park your car in the designated spot, meet the ever hospitable George and start to appreciate the view from the private, covered porch. I say start, because for us at least it was just so overwhelmingly beautiful that you can't take it all in over the course of one day.
While you're out of Asheville proper, it's not a very long drive into town and well worth it to stay somewhere with such an unparalleled view. Easy driving to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Mitchell (which you can see from the porch!! :D) and Mt. Pisgah.
And the property is fully furnished, with a super comfortable bed, very neat and clean bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen. Especially if you're self-catering due to dietary issues, this is an ideal place to stay, with a stove, oven and fridge. And it's pet friendly, with all kinds of interesting smells according to our Aussie shepherd four-footed traveling companion! And if being away from it all in the mountains proves to be too much (or you want to share all of your pics from nearby hiking Right Away! to the FB world at large), the wifi works great!
